Should there be mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent crimes, regardless of context in the situation itself?
Mandatory Minimums are the greatest miscarriage of justice of our times! Justice should be mediated for mitigating circumstances that no ignorant legislator 20 years & 3000 miles away could account for. Give sentencing back to the judges for justice
Agreed. Though I assume the problem is that some judges might be too lenient than the legislature intended. It seems that could be addressed in a way better than mandatory minimums.
Sentence, no. Punishment, yes.
No, every circumstance & person is different & should be given grave & due consideration in a case by case basis. A blanket punishment is unfair & unjust -- a crime against the whole society.
