Donald Trump has defended his sons' hobby of doing pretty much exactly the same thing that dentist did, including slaughtering an elephant and posing with its chopped-off tail (see link). This makes you respect Donald Trump:
Man, there's barely any room for less, but I suppose I can get creative. Less.
Less. He doesn't have much father left to fall, but I don't doubt that he'll find a way.
fucking disgusting....those poor animals 😭
Why would I respect him less because his sons are hunters? As long as they are hunting legally, I don't see the problem. I certainly respect Trump more than Mia Farrow. What has she ever done?
I'm leaving Mia Farrow out of this because that's a whole other issue. But are you contending that any action by an individual wouldn't cause you to lose respect for him/her as long as it's legal?
No, I'm contending that if he were hunting legally I would not lose any respect for him. In this case it is his children who are hunters and whether they did it legally or illegally wouldn't cause me to lose respect for him.
Some people smoke pot for fun and enjoyment, other people hunt big game.
Other people vandalize property, other people pirate ships, other people molest children, other people use a sniper rifle to gun down people at a gas station, etc. What is the point here, exactly?
The point is...big game hunting in not illegal in Zimbabwe or America. Not everyone enjoys the same things in life.
Not everything that's legal is right.
I agree. Same sex marriage is legal but it is not right.
Not to be distracted, is your argument of "big game hunting isn't illegal, so it's fine" really the one you want to stick with?
I personally do not agree with big game hunting. Being legal makes a lot of people do things which are morally wrong.
@firefly, I'll take you up on that. Big game hunting is not only legal it is fine.
But GlockMan, the question wasn't whether you think they should be thrown in jail. Then the legality issue might matter. But this poll was just about earning your respect, in which case personal opinions DO matter more than laws.
@Ebola: strictly because it's legal, or situation-specific?
@firefly, it's fine because there is nothing wrong with big game hunting. I support hunting for those that participate in the sport and observe the laws on limits, hunting seasons, etc.. Does that answer your question?
I just hope his supporters don't go for Scott Walker.
