Question (worded differently) my brother asked my dad tonight: If beer were the only drink left on the planet, would you let your young child drink it?

Funnily enough, this kindof used to be the case. Low alcohol content beers and meads were the staple drink. Water was unreliable and often had sickness carrying pathogens. So everyone drank alcohol.

BTW, my answer would've been they have to have water to make beer so you can drink the water.

That's what my dad said at first too! But then my brother made it so that there were only bottles of beer already made left.

Might as well. The entire human race will be extinct in like a week without water, so why not?

My dad's reasoning for the answer of "no" was alcohol makes you more dehydrated.
