Chris Christie has said that if elected President he will over-ride State laws and enforce the Federal ban on marijuana. Does this hurt or help his odds of becoming President?

What do people have against cannabis? Everyone knows prohibition is not effective... Besides, at least it ain't meth of heroin.

Also, overriding state laws is against the (9th or 10th [it's 2am, brain can't brain very well at this hour...]) amendment. Fuck him.

Christie won't get the nomination anyway, he's demonized by liberals and conservatives.

He's a goofball. He says a lot of things. But he's still just a goofball.

It hurts his odds but surprisingly it's the first thing he's ever said that I agree with... But I still hate him for all the terrible things he's done to this state while in office and hope he never becomes president.

Funny how conservatives and liberals like the cherry pick when and when not the government can grant rights beyond the states control

He's a big government guy for sure, and he's a huge guy. If he added his weight to the force of the federal government then the states would be crushed for sure.

I don't appreciate any politician who takes the position where the Fed dictates State business, R, D, G or I, even if I agree with the subject of their proposed action.

I'm from NJ too and he'd be one of the worst choices for president ever. I don't know anyone from this state that actually likes him.

Nothing just a very messy yard of leaves and branches. So many leaves. And then we got power after 8 days and then a blizzard and out again. Did not enjoy it.

Pot should be left to the states.

The only way it can legally be left to the states is repealing federal marijuana prohibition.

Good in the sense that it would be following the Constitution's Supremacy Clause. Bad in the sense that a lot of tax revenue in states where it's legal would disappear.

It would hurt him in the general election, but it's good primary politics.

Agree and that's the core problem. Btw we discussed a couple weeks ago who the top 5 candidates for GOP are. I listed Christie, but he's falling pretty rapidly, I'm still surprised how badly he's doing.

Have you seen Gilmore joined too. It's getting ridiculous.

skinner Jersey City

I actually hadn't heard that Gilmore joined until you mentioned it. He came out of nowhere. I have never heard him discussed as a potential candidate in any of the articles I read.

Christie isn't doing too badly. His New Hampshire strategy still

needs some work, but it looks like he might make it into the first debate after all and that will be a great asset, especially if Bush continues to falter. My big surprise is Kasich. He's been rising pretty steadily in the polls since he announced.

TomM

I agree Kasich is doing well. I know very little about him, but he was impressive in an interview I saw, it was on CNN or CNBC. He was straight forward, I like that.

The big thing is to get into the TV debates. I'm looking forward to it, I hope I can find a way to watch it (I'm in Europe).

I know! I'm going to be in summer camp during the debates, so I'm going to have difficulty watching it. I imagine it will be streamed online somewhere.

TomM

I hope so. Facebook is a sponsor (with foxnews) so I hope FB will do something. Fox has an online service but only for people who already subscribe through some specific cable companies.

And they may make something for this debate.
