Have you ever bought a scratch ticket?
First one I ever bought was $100 winner. That was in 1980 and I've never even come close to winning that amount since.
I won $2 on my first scratch ticket, which led to me buying a few more and losing money.
Friends bought them for me on my 18th, never bought them myself.
I won $50 on a $2 ticket this week!!
Knowing they're a losing proposition, I bought one for my son to demonstrate the fact that it's really a losing game. We told him in advance that it was a losing game. We told he would get nothing. But when he got nothing he still cried.
It was a sad learning experience for him. Since then, though, he's figured out that it's better to get something for something. If he wants a small thing while we're out shopping, he might ask for a dollar plaything from the dollar store.
Most of the time, he just saves it. He bought himself Skylanders that way. 😊
What if it had backfired and you had won? You would have started him on the road toward gambling addiction.
Shit. I probably would have started me on the road to gambling addiction!
