President wvamerican issues and executive order (Executive Order 13705)
the court should rule whether or not this is constitutional or not?
I think since you requested it, the court should definitely look at it, I mean it's been a month since we've had a case so I would support that
It's been on the books over thirty years. On and off of course.
yay now we can all sleep peacefully at night knowing that we've driven abortions out of safe and clean clinics and into the streets.
Making something illegal (or inaccessible) DOES NOT stop it from happening!
People can have abortions where they want, don't have it subsidized by American tax dollars.
Although I love this as a matter of policy and agree with the premise, I believe that the representatives of the People should have decided whether or not to do this.
Ridiculous. Just as we make begin to make progress some regressive, bible thumping politician comes along and ruins it.
What do you mean?
I'm not doing this for religious reasons.
Why are you doing it? Women should have control over their bodies. Let's face it, if men were the ones getting pregnant, we could get abortions from vending machines.
I view it as immoral and don't believe taxpayer dollars should be used for these matters. But just because I believe it is immoral doesn't derive from my religious beliefs.
"Women should have control over their bodies" I agree. But you don't think it's immoral to murder and unborn child?
Whether you believe it's right or not, this essentially makes it so that these organizations are ignoring that abortion is an option for women in a myriad of different situations,
even if abortion would be the moral prevention of incredible suffering on the baby's part.
"Our study found robust empirical patterns suggesting that the Mexico City Policy is associated with increases in abortion rates in sub-Saharan African countries."
Have you read this study?
Bendavid, Eran, Patrick Avila, and Grant Miller. "United States aid policy and induced abortion in sub-Saharan Africa." Bulletin of the World Health Organization 89.12 (2011): 873-880c
Again, not a typo. "Increased" abortion rates.
I'm not seeking to reduce abortions, the purpose is to eliminate federal funding for abortion. Especially foreign aid of abortion.
But your actions would increase abortions substantially worldwide. You don't think that's a bad thing?
Also, this policy limits the distribution of contraceptives from NGOs, resulting in more unintended pregnancies.
What a terrible executive order.
I completely agree with this order. Taxpayers should not be expected to support procedures that violate their conscience.
So taxpayers should be able to pick and choose the things they pay taxes for? Think of how many wars wouldn't have been funded?
Sorry, not supposed to be a question mark.
There's a difference between policies that serve a compelling state interest like foreign policy and policies that serve lesser causes like reproductive "rights".
I wasnt aware the policy was terminated. I thought it was still in effect.
Isn't the next election in August or September? We need a liberal leaning president next.
I'm the most liberal leaning President we've had, and we've had an Independent.
I know, when looking back, you have done great things. I just think we should have a democrat next.

Executive Order 13705
In August, 1984 President Ronald Reagan instated what is known as the Mexico City Policy. This Policy required nongovernmental organizations to agree as a condition of their receipt of Federal funds that such organizations would neither perform nor
actively promote abortion as a method of family planning in other nations. I hereby reinstate the policy as it was worded on January 23, 2009.
