Today, a woman in the UK who was cut out of her mother's will was awarded 1/3 of the $750k estate. This could be a landmark ruling for disinherited children in the UK. Should all children have a right to receive a portion of their parents' estate?

It's not their money. There are no rights involved.

You don't have a right to someone else's property.

Being related by blood doesn't entitle you to someone's belongings when they die.

^ my thoughts exactly. It's ugly how when someone dies, there's always that person who tries to fight for the bones.

Horrible decision. The government should have no say in who gets your money after you die.

It's my money. I should have the say in who gets it. Unless I'm sued and court awards the money for some wrong doing. Is that what happened?

That is a horrible ruling. The mother was of sound mind when she made her will and very vocal about not wanting the daughter to get it. The government clearly overstepped.

I completely agree. This ruling makes me angry. It's bad enough I can't take my money and stuff with me when I die, I should at least get to say who it ends up with.

Happened in the UK. Let's hope it doesn't catch on.

No. Some don't deserve it, some don't need it and most importantly, I get to say where my money goes when I die.

No. I have a friend of the family that has a horrible daughter. The granddaughter will inherit everything, with someone else as the distributor of the funds until she is 18. It's her wish, and should be honored.

No, in general, I don't think adult children have a claim to their parent's money or assets.
