I was stung by a wasp for the first time this past weekend. Were you an adult when you experienced your first sting?
Never been stung by a wasp, but got stung by a bee once. I was 14 or so and going to play some basketball with my cousins who were visiting from England. Never got to play. :(
It was right on the side of my pinkie finger, too. I threw my arm back, because I was running, and must have hit it.
I was on the farm and got stung in the armpit
I've only been stung 3 times. It was all on the same day, and I stepped on all three at different times.
I stepped on a bee once on accident. That was it
I stepped on a wasp once. My foot swelled up and I couldn't walk on it for days.
I was stung by a wasp when I moved to Jersey. I hate those things.
I was stung numerous times by bees as a child. I don't remember when I had my first wasp sting, but I know I've had at least one as an adult.
I've always been stung by bees or wasps/yellow jackets often. Already twice this year,
And I was stung by a scorpion once too.
Despite the stings, it sounds like you and your friends had a great time :)
We did :)
I had many bee stings growing up, but I was in my 20's the first time I was stung by a wasp. I'd rather have 5 bee stings than one wasp sting.
When I was a kid,I sat in a bee and it stung me in the butt! 😟
That's a pain in the ass 🐝
I've never been stung by a bee or wasp.
Oh my goodness gracious, wink! Yikes! I'm sorry you had to go through that. What an adventure. I'm still waiting for my first sting, actually.
I hope you never have one. It was stressful at the time, but I am laughing about it now!
Ouch! I hope it wasn't too bad!
It was actually quite temporary, surprisingly, but thankfully!
I was stung in a pool once. Other than that, I leave them alone and they leave me alone. We had a yellow jacket infestation at work. They wanted to swat. I don't swat. I bomb. Swatting provokes them.
We used to poke the hornets' nest to see how close we could get.
Guess not much has changed.
No, I was stung as a child and it was a wasp. I had a severe allergic reaction and was taken to the hospital. My next sting was far into adulthood.
I'm sorry that happened. Do you still have allergic reactions to stings?
Only wasps. Lucky me. I'm sorry about your day yesterday. That doesn't sound good at all.
I hope you are never stung again!
It's all good, Tiera--all's well that ends well.
It was crazy. Wasps had built nests under the dock where we were and they kept flying around and bothering us. My friend killed a couple with her shoe. The last one she smashed really hard and all of a sudden these wasps were everywhere and they were
MAD. One landed on his friend's guts and then he got even more mad. We were screaming and cussing and calling out for Jesus. My friend kicked her shoe in the water. I got stung on the bottom of my big toe and could feel the poison spreading up my
foot and leg. Then we packed up our stuff and made Nutella Rice Krispie Treats and danced until 1am. By then, there was no evidence of the sting. No mark, bump, or pain. I am so glad I didn't have a reaction because my mom reacts pretty severely to
Another memory made. I wish we had a video of us freaking out. I'm sure it would have been hilarious.
If it was truly your first sting, you wouldn't have a reaction to it - your immune system has to be exposed to something first, & then after that it can mount a response. I don't know how much cross-reaction there is between various bee & wasp
stings, though, so maybe if you'd been stung by a bee before, you might have had a reaction. (That's actually something I'd like to know more about, since I had an allergic reaction to a bumblebee sting. I had allergy testing done, & was told I was
allergic to "stinging insects," but I didn't get them to clarify if it was stinging insects in general or just certain ones. I was young and dumb them.)
That's interesting Susan, I did not know that. I was stung by yellow jackets when I was a child and I don't remember what reaction I had.
