There are lots of annoying bugs in Florida. Mosquitoes, roaches, palmetto bugs, spiders, ants, flies and moths. I'm learning a lot about keeping them out.

There are zero bugs in the middle of the ocean. It's nice, because if they were able to be here, they would be all over our disgusting berthing.

I sat outside the other night and listened to them. It was just thousands of little noisemakers. Then during the day, the cicadas sing.

Wait, is this about bugs in general or just mosquitoes?

Mainly mosquitos. We have a few cases of West Nile in my city too.

I had some achy symptoms so I went and got tested for West Nile. I did not BUT they said I had antibodies that show I had it in the past as many people do. I was surprised that I had it once. Strange.

Wouldn't you enjoy living in the middle of Dallas or Houston?

I would not. I lived in Arlington during the 90's and Houston is way too humid for me.

The city sprays, and that seems to keep the population down. But the other night we went to a wilder part to watch fireworks and forgot spray. The wee one was eaten alive. Now, the spray is always in the car.

When I moved to SF, Ca., I couldn't get over how weird the windows seemed. By the 2nd day, I incredulously realized that they had no screens because it was almost entirely bug free!

I still have to make the screens for the windows in the back of the house. We've actually gotten by without them so far this summer, but it would be nice to not have moths fly towards the lights at night.

Yes, I remember that from my three years in San Francisco. The lack of mosquitoes was wonderful!

Definitely. It's extremely annoying.

I think it's way too buggy but it's probably nothing in comparison to most regions.

Terrible. I have a big electric bug zapper on my deck to keep the bug population down and I have to blow it out everyday. Mosquitos!

Aren't mosquitos the MS state bird? 😜

The state bird and bug! They love to hang out at my back door just waiting to buzz in! And they do.

Lucky you to live in the Mountain West where bugs are not a problem.

I honestly still can't believe that I've only seen 2 skeeters this summer. I'm usually a walking bug buffet.

You didn't even mention they're the size of flies and their bites hurt. They're much worse than the mosquitoes in Florida.

Yes and I know you know! 😊
