Is it ironic that the people against abortion are also against helping families who can't afford to pay for the child with taxpayers' dollars?

It's a good way to keep people reliant on their church. Force them to have lots of kids and offer them solace by shaming and guilting them for taking government assistance and to join the church ranks.

The put the child up for adoption argument is so stupid. They don't know how messed up the foster care/ adoption system can be. If you're not foster parent or adopt yourself, how do you expect enough people to do it to take care of all the children?

Good point... May have enough ppl if adoptive parents didn't go to Ukraine or Africa to adopt kids..there are plenty here who need a home too

Even then it's not enough! But it's a child you're talking about. You can't force people to not get one from another country. You are right, though, there are plenty of people here that need homes.

Think about all the abortions per day. Think about all the children being put for adoption/day. Think of all the kids already up for adoption. Then, think of all the actual adoptions/day. Now, think if all those abortions were put for adoption.

Thats a lot of thinking. After working in foster care...everyone wants babies. And everyone wants to adopt babies... However, if all these parents adopt, there would be no where to place babies temporarily in the system.

One side of the political spectrum seems to be concerned with children in utero, but not when they are ex utero.

I'm against abortion, I am definitely not against helping those families, so I don't know what you're talking about...

Many people are. They are opposed to welfare, unemployment, government funding of food banks, the homeless, government assistance for childcare or schooling so the mother can improve her lot in life. All of these and more.
