Last time I went to jury duty I got paid $5 a day. Should jurors be paid at least minimum wage?

If it will cause financial hardship, apply for a waiver. Your place of employment cannot legally penalize you for taking time to vote or serve jury duty.

It's sad that people don't understand what "civic duty" entails. If you can't miss work, have your employer contact them.

The last thing we need is professional jurors.

Yes but there have been times when I didn't have a job and/or it didn't pay.

No. It's a civic duty, not a job.

Then file a waiver with the courts stating that jury duty would cause a financial hardship.

Yes but on the other hand, would you want your jurors to be there against their will and just wanting to get the trial done asap?
