What if the risk of getting charged with perjury was non-existent? In other words, they'll never find out if you lied. So basically it's whether or not you think your friend deserves to see the inside of a cell.

Risk in lying in court is always high and has consequences and can never be mitigated. Still I wouldn't do it.

No because then an innocent man (me) would go to prison for lying under oath while my friend who probably committed a murder or another horrible act and is facing a life sentence for it would walk free and this is very messed up.
