You are moving out of your rental home one week earlier than the original lease terminates (as agreed upon by both you and your landlord). Your landlord asks you to wait to cancel the utilities until the original lease ends. Do you?

There's absolutely no obligation to, and the landlord has probably made plenty of money off of me as it is.

No. If the landlord wants to keep the utilities on, he can pay for it.

No. Why should you pay an extra week? He probably wants them on in case he is showing the house to someone else

I would leave them on but put in a cancel service that shuts them off at the end of the week. Then the last thing I do is go turn off the main power breaker, gas main and the water main.
