In America ambitious people who make good choices and work hard will eventually succeed.
Everyone defines success differently. Success is not always being the next multimillionaire. To some it's a job you love, or a family, better off economically than growing up or maybe all of the above.
So I'd say, yes. Hard work and smart choices will almost always lead to some form of success. It just doesn't always lead to having your own private jet
People who make smart choices and work smart get ahead. Hard work itself does not pay.
This is definitely more true than not.
Luck+ hard work+ good choices = chance at success. If you increase hard work and good choices, it will always increase your chance at success. But it's definitely not guaranteed.
I would agree, but I'm not that naive.
Yes, each person will define success diffferent. But one way to often look at it is if you make your life better as an adult than it was as a child.
Change "will eventually" to "are much more likely to" and I'm on board.
Agreed. Sometimes s#%* happens and there's only so much one can do about it.
Define 'succeed.' No matter how hard I work I will never be Donald Ztrump. 'Ambitious & hard working people can usually improve their circumstances' would be more correct.
That's a lame excuse. There's no reason you could never match Trump's success.
Funny. Circumstances aside, Trump & I have far different definitions of success. His is $. Mine is family & integrity. I've never not paid a debt & I've been married to the same woman for >30 years. Trump will never be able to say that.
That's rather arrogant and naive to think like that.
Some do. Some try and do their best but luck is not on their side. You can't stop a corporation from laying you off.
You can start your own.
Oh sure, piece of cake.
I'll do that tomorrow.
Tens of thousands of people have done it. I guess they're just better than you. They don't make excuses.
Tsk tsk tsk
A Rush Limbaugh fan I'm guessing.
Never listen to him
Disagree. It takes more than that.
Yes more than any other country and at any other time, but there's still the government holding us back so there's still room for improvement.
Definitely not a given, but certainly a myth that those who wish to do nothing about property like to perpetuate.
In their own book perhaps.
It's not guaranteed but there's a good chance, yes.
If you make the right choices you will succeed. Shit will happen somewhere in the road, but if you keep true to your values you will come back and keep going.
Of course! We should replace WIC payments with uplifting quotes.
i think this is true in most cases. the definition of success varies, of course; not everyone can be a millionaire. but ambitious and talented people almost always end up doing well in life
I disagree. There is no such thing as an entirely self-made man; every successful individual needs a bit of good fortune or assistance somewhere along the line. Not everyone has access to the same opportunities and resources.
Nope. Especially in this era, we are seeing many families make all the right choices and still not be able to advance.
So while that may be true for some people, what separated them the others wasn't more hard work, intelligence or inherit superiority, they were simply lucky. People are neither entirely masters of there own fate or completely subject to outside
Factors. The reality truly is somewhere in the middle, and we cannot allow economic policies that pander to one extreme or the other.
I'm in the middle between you and Justin in this one. While I had a lot of help and good fortune in my career, attributing it all to luck is offensive. I have worked my ass off for 34 years and counting.
Had you not worked hard, your luck would be mostly useless. Had you not had good luck, your hard work could have been mostly useless. Acknowledging one doesn't diminish the other IMO.
Agree RoDe. I've always found that 'luck' is when preparation meets opportunity. I keep putting myself out there and over time things keep coming my way.
Probably some level of success, but not everyone will reach their goals even if those goals are reasonable and the person puts in hard work and dedication.
Yep, you're still young huh? It's not that simple nor available. Oh, and I've been very successful but not because I thought it would come simply because I worked hard and made good decisions. It simply don't happen for everyone - period.
Most of the time yes
It could happen.
I agree. There is no country in the world with more opportunity than this one. I believe that anyone with drive and perseverance can make it and find success.
