Inspired by the answers in one of my polls... Do you feel too many Americans are apathetic towards their country???
Worse, too many hate it &/or are completely ignorant of history/founding documents/& what makes USA "exceptional" in the world.
That's ridiculous! Americans are incredibly patriotic! I'm from Germany and the only time anyone is overtly patriotic back home is during the world cup, olympics, or our national day.
I think I know a little more about Germany than you. Germans are mostly patriotic, but are not vocal about it except, almost exclusively, at sports matches.
I was just joking.
Yes and they have every reason to feel as such. But they should put an effort into changing things.
I think many are apathetic or disenfranchised.
Yes. How do you think Obama got elected twice?
So many seem to be asking what can my country do go me.
A lot will "talk the talk" of being patriotic yet don't bother to vote or actually put time learn about our nation's problems. The real problem, on both political sides, is apathy towards voting or caring about politics whatsoever.
Exactly! Thank you!
What does it matter? I can't say I feel anything about it one way or the other. More to the point, I just don't care.
I agree with Gow488, and add that too many people are uninformed or misinformed about the country
In don't think so I actually believe people are a bit too patriotic nowadays.
It's fake patriotism though.
"I sang GBA during the seventh inning stretch."
"I wear a yellow ribbon to support the troops, I'm patriotic!"
That's inactivism though. You want to support the troops? Then ask why we are sending them into harms way.
