Alcoholic beverages do not require labels that show ingredients and nutritional value. Should they?

I can understand why they don't if they tell the everyone will be selling everyone else's recipe KFC doesn't tell you what herbs and spices they use

We should do that with everything we consume. That way the consumer will be able to make an educated decision on whether or not they want to eat or drink that product.

We can't even get the nutritional values right on food. Not to mention GMO's. Do we really need to throw Beer in to not get done too?

Until I was like 19, I thought liquor didn't have calories because there was no labels🙈

They should treat alcohol as a food, not solely as a drug.

It does. Shows alcohol by volume.

Kindof ironic how everyone wants a label for GMO which doesn't mean a thing and yet I've never heard of someone advocating for nutrition information on alcohol.

Alcohol is not a source of nutrition.

Umm yes it is... Or are you being sarcastic? I'm not good at telling that

The necessary nutrients needed by the human body do not include alcohol. Aka you will live if you never ever consume it. So it is not considered a source of nutrition aka nutrients. If you think the other ingredients found in alcoholic beverages are

Necessary like in red wine, that may be true but does not change the fact that alcohol is not a nutrient.

Ok you're talking pure ethanol. For the sake of the question, I assumed we were talking alcoholic beverages.

It always spills down my chin when I try to read it.

It would be nice. I'm a fan of knowledge. they should have a QR code that has the ingredients list at the very least. That would solve a few problems now wouldn't it and offer an opportunity for some advertisement. Ooh. An Idea!

Why bother? Evidently we don't need no stinking labels. Labels are for pansies.

If everything else has a label so should beer.

The rationale seems to be that people should be discouraged from seeing booze as food. Still, I want to know the calories and what's in my drink. Nobody would consider booze healthy nutrition just because it has a label.

If you want to know the calories that are in your drink, you are either drinking for the wrong reasons or shouldn't be drinking at all.
