Today on the Senate floor, Ted Cruz openly called his own party's leader (Majority Leader Mitch McConnell) a liar. Should politicians maintain politeness and refrain from getting personal in debates, or do you like it when they "take the gloves off"?

I want my politicians to hold their ground with responsibility and maturity because I fear if they get the chance they may interact with other foreign leaders disrespectfully and create big problems for this nation based on their behavior.

There is a certain decorum that is expected in the Senate where as in the House it is pretty much a free-for-all.Although sometimes it may be difficult, respect and dignity is what one should expect from Congress.Even worse when it's party bickering.

I don't hate him or think manners should be regulated, but being a Senator should require actual legislative work which he shows no interest in. We could use less theatre in politics, it's gotten more superficial than watching the Kardashians

RepMorris Pennsylvania

Ted Cruz has sponsored 44 bills and cosponsored 187.
You don't need to introduce a heap of bills to be an effective representative to your constituents. Remember, as a member of Congress, he's the voice of the people of his state first.

TRooks
07/25/15 4:06 am

He also attended only 3 of 16 committee hearings and meetings of the armed services committee. If someone wants to be Commander in Chief and legislates on defense policy skipping out on your job on this committee isn't right.

RepMorris Pennsylvania
07/25/15 4:11 am

As a big Ted Cruz fan, I believe he should attend the committee hearings more. However, I would note that he is certainly prioritizing which ones to attend and not attend in terms of importance. I would also note, he's not the only Senator with a bad

By comparison he is at 3/16 compared to 13/16 average of all other members. If the elected don't do the actual work they are assigned to it's hard for me to believe they should be promoted by the electorate. Doesn't make him evil, just absent.
