Due to its heavily weighted stance regarding al-Qaeda & ISIL, the US's interests involve a geopolitical balance of power with Iran being balanced by Sunnis & Israel. Due to Hezbollah & Hamas, Israel's interests involve a weak & illegitimate Iran.
