I did over the Internet... on my smartphone... does that count? Or did I actually have to use one of those machines that make awful noises?

No, the only time I have seen someone fax something is at a vet or hospital for medical records.

Faxes are becoming the 8-track tape of the 21st century.

I guess fax isn't dead, yet. Should be.

Now that's the perfect way to do a first comment! No, not this one, the one by heatherluvs.

Awful because with our Internet connection I probably could have scanned all of the pages to PDF and emailed them in a fifth or less of the time it took the fax machine to fax at dial-up speed. I was sitting there for 45 minutes for 20 pages. Crazy!

Daily, at work. Mostly receive. Although I do specify they can scan and email the forms to me, only a few do so.

I work for a government program... We fax... A LOT... And the senior folks in the program are VERY nervous about faxing, emailing, copying, and using word processing in general... VERY paper-heavy... :(

I had to send a fax to set up an account for an auction site. I used a free online fax service to send it.

Yes, but I use an online fax service. So when people fax me documents (I get faxes from doctors' offices for work), it comes straight to my email.

Seriously-- you can scan and email documents with your smart phone. Why fax?

It was funny seeing the word "fax" on this pole.
I haven't sent one, received one or even heard the word, for well over a year.

I do not do business with companies that still fax. It means they are so far behind the times they cannot possibly be a progressive company.
Especially with electronic fax no available they have no excuse.

Not since I'm not working, but a year ago, I did it frequently.

Isn't a fax a better audit trail? A fax tells you whether the other party actually received the fax, an email does not.

We've lost 23 million jobs under obama and you're complaining about WHO shipping jobs overseas?!?!?
Silly liberals! Let the adults do the thinking for you. You screwed up your last chance 4 years ago.

I have a credit union that I belong to in another state, and they are technologically challenged. I had to update done info, and I offered to send in their form via email, but they insisted that I fax them. Weird.

Rosebud>> join the scan to PDF/email train. THAT is much easier, much faster, and much more likely to actually happen.

Yes... It drives me crazy. If its intercompany, I tell them I can't receive faxes and force them to scan and email. It's just a better audit trail.

Your printer's letter-sized paper tray is empty, and you have a really, really old printer. Or, you've watched one of my favorite movies one time to many.

All our faxes go to a website where we can log in and print if we want. Saves on all the spam fax we get and the files are always there if you lose the original!

Really? Is this where we say how Cons are so backward they're still trying to figure out how to program one so they can complete the contract to outsource American jobs, like Mitt?

I thought not.
