I work from home with my boyfriend - 2 employee company that Internet based. It's amazing. We set our own hours and can travel while we work.

I've done both. In a large company you're generally just a replaceable cog. Smaller companies offer much more respect and flexibility. Pay was the same for me, and the larger company has had massive layoffs.

I said larger because I figure it's better job security, but I'm sure in a mom and pop operation you might get treated better. It's a trade off potential either way.

Lol college doesn't instill intelligence. Intelligence is achieved much earlier in life. College just shoves books in your head.

Apple being an example of a big company

I think I would rather work for apple then some successful mom and pop because then benefits are better and so is the pay.

Small companies care more about their employees, even if its less money for me. And I'm totally fine with that.

B/4 I sold 12 Internet based companies I had only a photographer, videographer, promoter, & 2 assistants.
Smaller companies u get more faithful & loyal employees. My opinion

How would one prove that they have a degree. That idea sounds rather uneducated.

If it's a successful small company, why wouldn't you grow it into a successful large one?

I've always imagined myself being successful at a large company, and that is one of my career goals. I have nothing against small businesses at all, having worked at a local business for the past year and a half. However, I want to be able to be a part of a large company, one that everyone knows.

As a successful small business grows it will provide more opportunities for advancement

A large company. Especially if Barack Hussein Obama is re-elected. Small businesses would suffer.

I'm proud to say I've never worked for a large company. All of my jobs have only ever been small, family owned businesses

Actually I prefer to own my own successful small company and work for no one!

Small, if a small company is successful they promote the people who get in early (while it's small) so when it gets big you'll be a higher up! Also if it's stays small but successful then it's a family feel

Both have equal pros and cons.
Examples
Large: bigger budgets.
Small: knowing everyone closely

The more I work for the "biggest company in the state", the more I realize I'd rather work for a smaller company where I could be treated like a person instead of a number.

Large companies are more susceptible to being bought and moved to other countries such as Bain owned sensata which showed huge profits for Bain but is currently being packed up and moved to china for bigger profit. Corporate greed....ruins businesses.

Remember: McDonalds is a successful large company. Was probably more fun when it was a successful small company. Want fries with that?

Yeah I agree with aaacn. But it does depend on where you are. If I had to chose between entry level in a big business instead of a managerial position in a smaller company I would go with smaller. But normally it's better to be at high spot in a bigger business cuz u get better benefits.

All things being equal in regards to compensation, I have to go with small. Too much bureaucracy at large companies.

Not really. I work for a small business and I enjoy it much more than the corporate nightmare I worked for prior to this. Too many layers of B.S. to get approval for anything. In a small business it's quick and easy to ask the owner.

Anyone who says small is a sucker unless they own it themselves or they are somehow making a killing.

Small if I own it, large if I'm just a worker-bee hoping for a better gig.

I've worked at both, large companies don't value their talent and only focus on execution.

College gives life context and perspective...it challenges your most beloved beliefs and forces you to interpret the world differently...so yes, there is a difference between those with degrees and those with a high school education.

There is no way to tell if someone is lying or not, Facebook is the largest social media site around, but it can't even prevent you from lying about your age.

I've worked at both, and much prefer the environment in a small company. I was valued much more as an individual, and the good ideas I had were implemented and had an immediate impact. However, lots of my concepts came from large companies, so I appreciate what I learned there too.
