From my own memory, gas prices here in CA were pretty low around November 2008 and through 2009 (his first year in office)

Ok, how about an answer swap CW because, first of all, I'm not really
involved in your previous conversation with spoiler but I had a question of my
own. But I'll answer yours if you answer mine. I haven't looked up the politifact thing, but I'll bite. I'll say the gas price was what you said it was

How did Politifact rate Michelle Bachman's claim about gasprices when MrO took office?

Think Lovin Life
03/01/12 9:43 am

What was the average gas price on the day MrO took office?

palindrome California
03/01/12 8:50 am

Lol, spoiler. So very true....
But I just want someone (preferably on the right) to answer my question. Which party actively preaches and practices a monetarist, deregulatory, small government (neoliberalism) approach in politics?

spoiler Michigan
03/01/12 8:43 am

Obviously he didn't respond to anything, He speaks for the right and hates the president. Anything that could make Obama look good CW will dismiss and talk about something else. It's actually really funny and exactly what conservatives are doing right now in politics.
No policies, just wedge issues

That link is a campaign speech Michelle bauchmann gave saying she would "make gas prices below $2/gallon like they were before Obama took office."

CW- you have no idea what ur talking about. This is turning into a highlight of my day. U should be a spokesperson for Rush Limbaugh lol. Blind sheep

palindrome California

Ok, so youre not going to answer the question. Next, can someone else answer my question?

Think Lovin Life
03/01/12 6:48 am

Palindrome ... attempting to redirect the conversation doesn't take away from the truth. Shame on you! It's one thing to leave a valid disagreement about how we ought to proceed, but to attempt to twist the truth into a lie is low. Go look at AAA, you'll see what the rest of us see.

palindrome California

Completed for nearly a decade. 2) what would it even matter? It's not a supply problem! We HAVE enough supply! So obviously the problem is a market problem. Therefore, my question again: which party preaches and practices a monetarist, deregulatory approach in politics?

palindrome California
02/29/12 6:58 pm

There you go, you need to understand that saying fact doesn't make it any more fact. CW, answer me this very simple question. Which political party preaches a monetarist approach? Which political party resists regulation to the energy industry? Yoi bring up that damn pipe which 1) wouldn't even be

Gas prices reached almost $5/gallon under bush and it wasn't in his control either

Think Lovin Life
02/29/12 4:48 pm

Fact: MrO has had to "deal" with drilling permits approved before he took office, thus thwarting his push to drive prices higher.

spoiler Michigan
02/29/12 4:48 pm

Washington has NO power over the price of gas. The world markets control the price. Key stone pipeline would've cost billions of dollars and taken 10 years to build, not to mention the potential environmental calamity.

Gas hasn't been below $2/gallon in 20 years dummy.

Think Lovin Life
02/29/12 4:47 pm

Fact: MrO has stopped new drilling petitions, rather allowing those to be given to Brazilian drillers who's standards of safety are much worse than ours.

Think Lovin Life
02/29/12 4:46 pm

Fact: Dr Chu, MrO's hand picked Sec of "Energy" said that the benevolent government needs to cause the prices of oil to rise to European highs.

Think Lovin Life
02/29/12 4:44 pm

Fact: MrO refused to allow the job creating Keystone Pipeline to proceed. While this wouldn't have immediately changed the course, it would have been a clear sign to speculators.

Think Lovin Life
02/29/12 4:43 pm

Fact: MrO and the Dems have been in control of the government since then. While Reps now control the House, they can not act alone. The House has not blocked any legislation proposed by Dems to moderate gas prices (the Dems haven't proposed any)

Think Lovin Life
02/29/12 4:40 pm

Fact: average gas prices today are: $3.72

Think Lovin Life

palindrome California

Either that or take what I said to a total extreme. I'm not in favor of incessant regulation. But I am for realistic regulation... Precisely the kind that would prevent oil speculators and wall st traders from getting rich off stockpiling oil and playing with the market

I'll bet anyone $100 CW responds with a completely different claim that doesn't pertain to what u just said palindrome. I would really like to hear and understand the counterargument. I don't understand how anyone in this country can still think regulation etc etc etc etc is a bad thing

palindrome California
02/29/12 11:25 am

By the way, those ridiculous subsidies, tax loopholes etc have given big oil companies a combined revenue of over a trillion dollars. A trillion... I think they've had enough of our money, both in taxes and in our gas money. Let's at least stop subsidizing them.

palindrome California

Anyone take high school economics? Shouldn't that mean our prices should be low? Obviously, some people
Are being greedy

palindrome California

Spoiler- I don't understand. They're constantly talking about how they're going to deregulate this and that, how they push for tax cuts, how they lower taxes on these corporations... And folks like CW act like the GOP aren't acting as enablers. The fact remains, we have the highest supply of oil

Jopat- are they not running on a small, limited government message? Are they not talking about deregulating the government? Are they not defending the rights of corporations to act as they desire? What's your definition of neoliberalism?

02/28/12 7:53 pm

If Obama wins he will try to pass new laws saying that he can run for a third term and later a dictatorship America will be ruined

So ... now it's time Spoiler ... you have NO PROOF that the current gas prices are attributable to the GOP. Stop the lies!

Think Lovin Life
02/28/12 6:43 pm

Since Mrao took office the White House has been controlled by a DEMOCRAT. The Senate has been controlled by DEMOCRATS. And while the House has been controlled by Republicans for nearly two years, they do NOT have the power to act without the Senate to create law.

Think Lovin Life
02/28/12 6:41 pm

To equate rising gas prices with the GOP is yet another failed attempt to mask the failure of this president. FACTS: Gas cost $1.84 when MrO took office. The price today is: $3.71.

Think Lovin Life
02/28/12 6:36 pm

As for the complete NONSENSE that the GOP is somehow responsible for the rising gas prices, this should serve as a reminder to the few that are still attempting to give MrO the benefit of the doubt. There is NO DOUBT that the man and his team are incompetent.

It is the job of educators to teach and inspire students to learn.

Think Lovin Life
02/28/12 6:31 pm

The problem with the PUBLIC schools -- not private schools don't have this problem -- is that we need to gut the dead wood social engineers, and replace them with people who can stimulate the intellect and challe GE the students. It is NOT the job of educators to ensure that everyone passes.
