Shaving in general, tears my face up! The best shave I ever had was with a straight razor. I stayed smooth for close to a week.

I own one but it only is good for stubble or a 5 o clock shadow because you have to clean out the blades every 5 seconds after you get a good clump of hair!

In the bad old before beard days I tried several electric razors, but didn't like any of them. Since giving up shaving for a better life, except when I did the Billy Gibbons thing for a few years, I've used a rechargeable electric beard trimmer followed by a disposable razor around the edges.

I use both. The hair above my knee is different than the hair below my knee -- softer & doesn't grow as fast. I use a regular razor in the shower from knee down (every other day) & electric above the knee about once a week.

All the electric razors I've used have been nothing more than electric tweezers. None of them actually shaved and I ended up looking like a plucked chicken.

Not much, but enough to make me look like I came from a ghetto. I was very glad to be done with that dare.
I still use an electric razor because it's faster, and it works for me. So until I go to Basic Training where one hair left on it is not exceptable, I'm still using an electric razor.

@AnnieM and @EarlyBird, I started shaving when I was probably like 13 because colored hairs started showing up on my face. I shaved every few days with an electric shaver at that time.
This summer my sister dared me to see what would happen if I left my mustache area unshaved for 30 days…

I only use Gillette Fusion Proglide Power and Edge Extra Protection shave gel. NOTHING exists (for me!) that's cleaner or closer. For neckline/sides I use Wahl's Razor Edge electric trimmer. No scrub here!
This is not a paid endorsement. :D

Ms. AnnieM, perhaps they are going into their parents master bath, and 'trying out' their dads shaving implements. You know, 'pretend shaving', to see what it'll be like when they get grow up! :D

Since I have to shave daily and I am a 30 yr old man that can't grow a beard to save his life I shave with a regular razor and electric on alternate days.

What kind do you have? My husband has been thinking of trying one. He has course hair & has to shave daily.

As clumsy as I am, at least an electric razor doesn't cause the bloodbath some cheaper mechanical blades do - if I'd use a classic straight razor, I doubt we'd still be talking ;)

i used to have a $50 electric razor that chewed my face up. got a $150 electric razor recently and $100 is night and day difference. shaves close and is gentle on my skin.

It's like a shot of testosterone in the morning. I've got a good collection now. Most are from the late 1800's- early 1900's takes a bit of work to restore them but, it's a really cool feeling to shave your face with something you polished and honed yourself. Plus, the lady will think its sexy.
