Equal distribution? Marxism. Fair distribution? Capitalism.

That's a trick question. You just defined Marxism. Well played making it look like question.

I don't think either of these assures it, but I picked Marxism because at least that is the goal, while equal distribution of wealth is the opposite of capitalism's goal.

Wut? Marxism is literally distribution of wealth. It can't get any more equal than that. This question asks "is capitalism better than Marxism at a Marxist ideology".

Equal & fair is what the question asked

The basis of Marxism is that everything is fair because everything is EXACTLY equal.

But one instance after that first moment of Marxism bliss there is someone who has worked harder and someone who has worked less and it is either no longer equal or no longer fair

Well, the work might not be, but the wealth always is.

So you are more productive than someone doing the same job and they get compensated exactly the same as you and that's totally fair?

Ummm... I'm confused. What the question asked was pretty much the textbook definition of Marxism and I'm confused as to why in a very anti-Marxist society people think we're out-Marxing the Marxists.

I'm confused as to how a system with unequal inputs resulting in equal outputs could be equal or fair

You're sidetracking. The original question = Marxism.

That might have been the intent but I'm saying you are wrong. You cannot have equal outcomes and at the same time total fairness.

The only way to be fair and equal is with equal opportunity. What ever is made from that will reflect effort

Exactly, assuming it's an actual communist system (but I don't think communism is possible without devolving into a totalitarian system that only pays lip service to communism).

Marxism's goal is assuring equal distribution of wealth but that is far from fair.

What's wrong with everyone being extremely poor?

I chose capitalism only because Marxism has never and will never exist. Neither are ideal. Both are fundamentally flawed IMHO.

Neither are perfect and highly subjective to human nature and human greed.
