"Democracy and liberty are not the same. Democracy is little more than mob rule, while liberty refers to the sovereignty of the individual." Walter E. Williams
There is always mob rule, so I don't really see a difference.
Absolutely true. One example of how civic's education has been 'redefined' by educators and MSM.
Why? Was someone under the impression that democracy had anything to do with liberty?
Notice that all the democrats voted false🐸☕️
Hey Pro, I hardly call 60% "all" Democrats! I actually read the results and I would agree there were no surprises. But, let's get into the 90%+ before you you say all.
It was all when I posted the comment
60% is a majority of dems still though
All in favor of seizing the assets of 60% of democrats and throwing them in prison so that they may be aware how really neat democracy is say I!
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. "Benjamin Franklin"
Glad were a Constitutional Republic.
I disagree. A form of liberty does exist in democracies, the freedom of the majority to sculpt a state into its own ideal. This type of liberty, however, runs up against the individualistic liberty that many Americans value.
America is not a democracy, the founders hated democracy.
America was not founded as a democracy. The republic did not survive.
Who the hell would think that they are the same thing?
Democracy is much more than mob rule.
Only when checked by other principles.
What made this country great was the focus on individual rights.
Good thing we aren't a democracy than... We are a democratic republic.
It's all about the constitutional balance between the group and the individual. Look at the extremes: No individual rights = dictatorship, no group rule at all = anarchy. Like I said it's all about the balance, constitutional checks and balances.
