In your opinion, what is the number one problem facing the world today?

I have no idea. But I'm kinda scared of what future technologies could add to our menu for human extinction and human control. Such as AI, 3D printed bio warfare, mind decoding, mind control devices. Hopefully the counter technology is sufficient.

Lack of tolerance and respect for the brotherhood of humanity and the sanctity of life.

Out of curiosity, what is humanism's threat to the world?

Humanism is a system of thought that puts the emphasis on humanity rather than on God. The loss of a divine direction as well as the resulting decay in the fabric of society facilitates many of the evils society is grappling with today, imho.

Lack of empathy and/or deliberate spread of misinformation. I think that the two are working in conjunction and creating a downward spiral.

The unholy molestation of government and economy by corporate and ultra-rich interests that give no shits about people, politics, or anything other than profit.

I don't even make a distinction between corporate interests and government anymore. It's just all one big clusterfuck.

That regardless of our different beliefs or ideologies we all share this big giant ball we call Earth, and that it would benefit us to share resources rather than compete for them. We've lost our humanity.

I definitely can agree with that.

Of resources, more specifically, but it could refer to intangible things, too.

If you're referring to food, we are actually living in an age of abundance. The issue is not really that we can't feed everyone, it's that it's hard to justify feeding someone who can't afford to pay for the food.

MrLucchese If curious, ask.
03/20/15 4:10 pm

No, not food. The lack of food in certain areas is due to poor distribution and greed.

Ha I don't know if we'll solve that one.
