This evening, out of the blue, I had my first panic/anxiety attack. Having never had one before, I can now say that it is a scary experience. Have you ever had a panic/anxiety attack?
I had a few after getting hurt at basic. They dwindled as the pain lessened.
Hang in there my friend!
Sure have! They can feel like you're dying. Absolutely terrifying.
My friends induced it after they kept adding me to a toxic group conversation. I begged them to stop, saying i was starting to have heart palpitations, but they continued until I eventually fell asleep sobbing, sweating, shaking, and terrified.
It used to happen frequently
I have tons. I have generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder. I used to have them multiple times a day - now it's about once or twice a week. Still sucks, but 20 years of experience makes it easier to handle.
Worst I ever had made everything go in slow motion. Was really weird.
Too many to count (i have PTSD). And i agree, theyre terrifying. Ive passed out and lost feeling in my hands from the hyperventilation. I now have medication for the bad ones. Breathing slowly and deeply with apl your effort can help, but i ts
Usually a thing to ride out.
Sorry you experienced that, not something id wish on anyone. Well, maybe id wish it on a couple lol
Yes, and that is why I take Prozac.
I had what my therapist considered to be an anxiety attack. It was mainly I could barely breathe, and my heart was pounding and racing while sitting down.
When the they put guac in my burto one time.
20 years. It gets better.
Once but Im not anxious at all. I think it was a lack of sleep problem for me.
But I agree it's terrible. You can feel your blood rushing in your hands. Your heart feels weird, you feel like you can't breathe, you feel like your gonna die.
Sorry to hear that.
Sorry to hear it. I had a horrible boss who's actions created huge anxiety for me. This is quite common as there are an increased number of heart attacks on Monday mornings due to work anxiety. I hope you find your Zen. ✌️
Dio I have also heard that heart attacks are more likely to occur in morning.
Nope. No idea what it's like
I've had many panic attacks and they are all scary. The complete inability to calm yourself down is not a fun feeling at all. I'm sorry you experienced that.
I have diagnosed anxiety but there's only been one time when I absolutely could not calm down. I ended up having to drink a bunch of wine to make myself fall asleep. Miserable experience
More times than I can count. Feel free to PM me if you want or need to talk, Matt.
Matt, was it PTS-related? Triggered memory? Hope not, but if so, please see somebody. I hate that this happened to you, whatever caused it. Praying. ✟
No, it wasn't related to anything like that. I'm thinking it's related to my thoughts and feelings about my physical health. I got sick at the beginning of February and I haven't been able to do much running or working out. It's been frustrating...
... and disheartening. Saw the doctor early last week with no results. Yesterday, played ultimate football and had to sit out. During and immediately after chow, my heart rate kept jumping up and my chest was very heavy. Finally, walking down the...
... hall my heart rate jumped up again, I started getting dizzy and the room felt like it was closing in on me. From there it just spiraled out of control. So, it seems that's the most likely thing to bring it on.
I'm a Nonexpert here, but you know I'm always glad to help. My view of PanicAttacks is that most never discover the triggers. Kind of a subconscious yelling at you but you can't hear what they are saying.
Not me. But I caused on.
I had one, and only one several years ago. I took it as a warning to slow down and reevaluate my life. Began to eat healthy, exercise only in moderation, avoid over commitment of my time, and find time to relax and keep things in perspective.
Thankfully no. It certainly sounds scary.
I hate the feeling of not being able to breathe fully.
I know of many people who've gone to the hospital because they legit thought they weren't breathing, its fairly common. Thats definitely the worst physical part for many.
Yeah, I had several for a one or two month period in college. Then a few more during house bidding times. My most recent one was about a year ago. They're no joke. Mentally, you just have to grapple it and not let it snowball. Helps me somewhat.
Worst feeling in the world. I had one when I was out of town at dinner with a bunch of people. I couldn't even touch my meal I was panicking so badly.
Have them all the time, I have a terrible anxiety issue.
I've had a few (but they didn't seem as bad as the one you had) and they're horrible. :(
I'm really glad you're OK. Please take care now.
I've had my fair share of panic attacks (I've suffered from anxiety for most of my life). They are horrible and very scary. I'm sorry you had to experience that. Everyone is different but it helps if Czar lays with me and rubs my back. Also...
Practice deep breathing. You have to remember to breathe. The important thing to remember is that it does eventually pass and that you will be ok. 💛
Are you suggesting that Czar rubs his back?
LOL! Hahaha. No (unless he thinks it will help!). I was thinking more along the lines of his wife doing that for him.
That would make more sense😜
Somebody call for a back rub?
Czar, I hear you give good back rubs...
Nothing like a new way to make money to boost the budget!
Matt, in all seriousness, I hope you're felling better.
Back rubs is a very small part of my portfolio. Ya tell me what ya need
Back rubs are an excellent way of reducing anxiety and stress. I love em. Will you give me one Czar?
I guess Czar is now the SOH masseuse... 🙌👐✋✊👊
Hey man...I play but i play for pay.
I see. Let me make a call to my bank. 😯
Cash only pls
Kind of. I have a benign irregular heartbeat that I can occasionally feel (PVCs). It has been checked, all good, and is pretty common, but it wasn't mentioned in my owners manual. The first time it happened, I went to the ER freaking out.
I honestly think, if you really think you're having a heart attack, you can probably give yourself a heart attack.
Premature ventricular contractions (PVC) for the class.
You need to get a new dealer. Your current one obviously laced your pot with something.
I'm sorry, Matt, that had to be freaky! I've never had one, but I had a roommate in college that did. Wow! I'm glad you got to the medics and feel better.
Yes, I get them often and I agree they are absolutely the worst.
Once, and I never want to go through that again.
Huge thanks to some of the guys in my platoon for while I was in a crazy state of confusion, dizziness, and fear, they quickly responded to me and got me a couple medics to me quickly to get me out of it. This was some serious scary shit! I really...
... felt like I was going to die.
I'm sorry Matt glad you are ok! I have had them before and it is beyond scary. I thought I was dying too. Happy you weren't alone 😊
Oh no! Now in panicking about having a panic attack!
Not really. Could happen.
Never had one.
What were you panicking about?
Don't know. Biggest thing been concerned with lately is I've got an unknown ailment (I've seen a doctor) that has made it very difficult to exercise the last month and a half. This evening, I was playing ultimate football with my platoon and got...
... quickly exhausted. After, we went and ate dinner. I was walking back to my barracks when suddenly it felt like everything was closing in on me, I got dizzy and confused, tunnel vision, and just an all around bad time.
A respiratory problem could make your body feel like it is suffocating and cause a panic attack.
I think it was definitely related to that, no doubt.
I'm so sorry Matt. My husband had one at work years ago and we didn't even know what was happening. I would hold off on those by myself hiking trips for awhile. Hugs.
