In a surprising move, Rep. Chris Gibson (R-NY) is working hard to get his fellow House Republicans to accept scientific consensus that humans are driving climate change. Do you think Gibson will get Republicans to accept science, or will oil win?

There is as much science and co census that there is no man Made climate change as those that say there is.

No, actually, there isn't.

I hope it'll work out, but I highly doubt it will.

If only the science were settled. Unfortunately, the headless chickens who masquerade as climate scientists are incapable of presenting any plausible conclusions.

Can you substantiate any of what you just said?

Pol ... which part are you troubled by, we'll start there!

polster2 US
03/18/15 7:15 am

The part where you deny scientific fact.

Think Lovin Life
03/18/15 7:17 am

I'm not denying any scientific fact. There are crack pots with unsubstantiatable hypotheses, but no facts.

Which supposed facts are you referring to?

polster2 US
03/18/15 7:19 am

The ones in which 97 percent of climatologists believe.

MrMilkdud
03/18/15 7:41 am

Polster, how many times have people on this app explained to you that the 97% claim is bullshit?
Are you learning disabled?

MrMilkdud
03/18/15 7:42 am

Do you have some sort of special needs condition that makes it hard for you to learn new information, which would explain why, after explaining this to you dozens of times, you still regurgitate that 97% bullshit at every opportunity?
What is it?

polster2 US
03/18/15 7:46 am

Sorry the facts bother you.

MrMilkdud
03/18/15 7:46 am

How about this. I'll help you replace your incorrect number with a correct number. Sometimes replacement techniques help special needs kids assimilate new information.

Special Ed kids don't run NASA, my friend.

MrMilkdud

According to the American Meteorology Society, nearly 50% of climate scientists believe that global warming is not man made.

What do the meta-analyses say?

MrMilkdud
03/18/15 7:49 am

Look, every time you feel yourself starting to revert to your discredited aggregate data, think really hard and remember that we've talked about how that number was made up by people who make a lot of money off of generating fear in people like you.

Nixon must've been a communist then. He started the EPA.

Think Lovin Life
03/18/15 7:50 am

Pol ... you're hiding! My question remains. Don't attempt to obfuscate by using generalities to hide.

Which specific 97% lemming "scientist" "fact" shall we discuss?

MrMilkdud
03/18/15 7:51 am

Nixon? WTF?
Do you have some unique form of Tourette's that causes you to blurt out random crap whenever you feel like you're losing a debate?

You all should take your antipsychotics.

MrMilkdud

MrMilkdud: "here's an article about how many climate scientists really believe in AGW."
Polster: "Peanuts! Nixon! Farting howler monkeys! 97 percent! Toothpicks!"

Good talk, polster.

Think Lovin Life
03/18/15 7:53 am

Pol ... stand still ... stop attempting to change the subject

Most of us can agree, the EPA was needed at that time. The EPA has served its purpose and now should be cut back DRAMATICALLY.

However, you can't hide ... let's talk you "facts".

polster2 US
03/18/15 7:54 am

I'm sorry the science is difficult for you all to accept.

MrMilkdud
03/18/15 7:55 am

Have you even looked at the article I posted? You can't really cling to the "science denier" accusation when you're clearly the one who refuses to assimilate new information into your rhetoric.

Sorry for hijacking your thread, Think.
I'll leave you to it.

polster2 US

The science is settled.

MrMilkdud
03/18/15 8:03 am

Because there's a consensus? Lol. I see Ebola is running circles around you about that nonsense in the thread below.
You're a clown.

To deny science is clownish, friend.

Think Lovin Life
03/18/15 9:00 am

Pol ... you've failed. I asked a simple question and you've chosen to avoid real discussion and focus on unprovable generalities.

Let's be clear -- science isn't settled and any leftist who says that to quell discussion has already admitted defeat.

Think Lovin Life
03/19/15 5:42 am

Pol ... I'm still waiting for that thoughtful discussion of the real issue.

Hmm ... could it be that you really have nothing but bluster?

Think Lovin Life
03/19/15 6:11 am

Pol ... The problem for you is that I've read many.

However, your unscientific approach to this discussion is EXACTLY the same as that taken by most man-caused climate change lemmings.

The inconvenient truth for you is that many of us do read!

I think they will accept science once we have the science and not just some "consensus".

Reply
polster2 US

That's what science is based off of, consensus. You're never going to get 100 percent agreement on anything.

Ebola1 Florida
03/18/15 7:22 am

To the contrary. Consensus means nothing in science except that you don't have the facts. You wouldn't say there is a consensus that the earth not flat because we know it is not flat and can prove it by measurements that are reproducible.

polster2 US
03/18/15 7:24 am

We have empirical evidence that humans are driving climate change.

Ebola1 Florida
03/18/15 7:26 am

The annals of science are filled with examples of how consensus has crumbled under the weight of facts, including the "consensus" that the earth was flat, that the sun and planets revolved around the earth, etc. the list is endless.

Ebola1 Florida
03/18/15 7:27 am

The use of the word consensus itself is an admission that we don't have the facts so we voted.

polster2 US
03/18/15 7:27 am

Was there any empirical evidence that the Earth was flat?

Ebola1 Florida
03/18/15 7:29 am

Yes, according to those who believed it.

polster2 US
03/18/15 7:31 am

You misunderstand what empirical evidence is.

Ebola1 Florida
03/18/15 7:33 am

If you have a scientific fact that can be proven and reproduced then it is a fact, not a consensus. In a consensus it only takes 1 person who is right to bring the entire house of cards down as opposed to a fact.

Ebola1 Florida
03/18/15 7:36 am

I know very well what empirical evidence is and there isn't enough to call man made CC a fact thus the label of "consensus". Consensus isn't even a scientific term. It is a political term.

Ebola1 Florida
03/18/15 7:44 am

“I want to pause here and talk about this notion of consensus, and the rise of what has been called consensus science. I regard consensus science as an extremely pernicious development that ought to be stopped cold in its tracks.

polster2 US
03/18/15 7:45 am

I think you need to retake middle school science, my friend.

Ebola1 Florida
03/18/15 7:47 am

Historically, the claim of consensus has been the first refuge of scoundrels; it is a way to avoid debate by claiming that the matter is already settled.

Ebola1 Florida
03/18/15 7:48 am

Whenever you hear the consensus of scientists agrees on something or other, reach for your wallet, because you’re being had.

polster2 US
03/18/15 7:49 am

I guess gravity is confusing for you, too, huh?

Ebola1 Florida
03/18/15 7:49 am

Let’s be clear: the work of science has nothing whatever to do with consensus. Consensus is the business of politics.

Ebola1 Florida
03/18/15 7:50 am

Science, on the contrary, requires only one investigator who happens to be right, which means that he or she has results that are verifiable by reference to the real world. In science consensus is irrelevant.

Ebola1 Florida
03/18/15 7:51 am

What is relevant is reproducible results. The greatest scientists in history are great precisely because they broke with the consensus.

Ebola1 Florida
03/18/15 7:52 am

There is no such thing as consensus science. If it’s consensus, it isn’t science. If it’s science, it isn’t consensus. Period.”
Michael Crichton
