Is this a case of driving while black or just a case of someone taking advantage of the current crappy conditions police find themselves in? By the way he was stopped for an invalid license plate, discussed towards the end of the video.

The PC (Probable Cause) sounds legit to me. The driver's actions mired the situation. It's not that hard to comply with the law, and/or be courteous to those who have sworn to uphold it--especially on a traffic stop.

Wasn't me, so I don't care.

While the reason for the stop is iffy at best, why couldn't the driver have just gave the cop his license? I can see his point in asking why he was stopped, but the officer wasn't asking for anything out of the ordinary. He gave the guy

Lots of chances to comply, and told him the consequences for not complying. Like I've said before, be polite, comply with the request of the officer, and avoid getting arrested, or worse.

I agree^
And I might add that possibly the only reason the officer didn't use the mace was because the guy wasn't white.

The POs I know do not run tags on a car but for two reasons (generally). 1. They have pulled someone over for another infraction. 2. They are profiling. This case is clearly not #1.

What a ridiculous comment! My daughter was DWW (driving while white), was pulled over and her car was impounded because her tag was expired.

Those who desperately want to find racism are the only racists left! Stop whining and obey the law!

Many police departments have plat scanners that scan all plates looking for expired tags, stolen vehicles, etc. it is not uncommon. All the driver had to do to avoid arrest was respect the authority & do what cop said. Resist and it can only worsen.

I admit that the POs I know are from rural areas. That could make a diff.

I would agree...rural cops know more people and might be less likely to stop for minor violations. That said, rural cops can be unpredictably hard on outsiders.

@Think, you obey. I'll be free. One of us is a real American. It's not the blind obedient one. Racism is real. It's active. It's horrible and sad. It's impossible to overcome it if we face it.

Good point, sd.
Also, in my original comment, I never mentioned anything about race. Profiling isn't necessarily racists. It can be prejudiced but not racist.

ru12 ... you twisted my words to fit your paradigm ... racism is real!

However, it only remains relevant to the race baiters, like Barack Obama and Al Sharpton, who are profiting from perpetuating it.

ru12 ... like most racists, you appear to have glossed over my counter-example. My daughter wasn't belligerent, like the guy in the video.

She complied with the officer. Yet the result was BECAUSE SHE WASN'T BLACK, her car was impounded!

Think, I'm not sure why you're being so belligerent. It's unfortunate what happened with your daughter and further proves my only (original) point that there's a real problem with how LE is empowered in this country as there is also a real problem

with how certain cultures respond to LE. The problems are perpetuated by both sides and while racism may be part of it, I believe culture and classism play a larger part. Again, I'm not sure why you're frothing and fuming libel.

ru12 ... I'm not frothing.

I think the police get a bad wrap most of the time, and challenge when people call them out for a job I wouldn't want to deal with ridiculous people.

The thug didn't comply, that was the only problem.
