Violence is the only answer to terrorist. Take them out before they get you.

Violence is the question. Yes is the answer.

Violence never solved anything....aside from slavery and fascism and totalitarianism and dictatorships. And the woman who pulls a gun and responds with violence against they guy who was gonna rape her? Totally didn't solve anything.

03/15/15 6:13 am

Incorrect. If threatened with aggression I will respond in kind.

03/15/15 12:22 am

At times it is a needed part of the process to get to an answer. Violence though is not the final answer.

03/14/15 9:37 pm

"Violence is an inelegant answer for an otherwise unsolvable problem." -me.

Many times in history, the only possible solution was a violent one. The American Revolution, WWII, the first gulf war. There was no "civil" answer

Well it was for Hitler, Musolini, and Japan. And it is appropriate for those militant Muslim Terrorists if we had any balls.

Enforcement of what we know to be just and correct should always be an option on the table. Freedom is not free. Fire must at time be met with fire.

It really all depends on what the question is!

Disagree. Self defense requires violence if violence is what you are defending against.

Zod Above Pugetropolis
03/14/15 11:25 am

Probably true, but I voted disagree anyway. I'd say it is never a good answer, or an answer at all unless everything else has failed. The reason I voted disagree is that sometimes, rarely, almost never, it may be necessary.

03/14/15 9:39 pm

World War II. The British and French people tried everything but violence to prevent war. Diplomacy, appeasement, concessions. In the end, none of it mattered, and violence early would have solved the problem more efficiently

When it comes to bullies, sometimes a good ass whipping is the only thing that will get them to leave you alone.

Sometimes all some people will respond to is violence. From bullies to dictators.

It may not always be the correct answer (2+2= violence) but it certainly can be.

Disagree. If anyone is trying to harm me or mine, violence (or the threat of violence at the very least) is the answer unless there's some better option at the time, but nothing is coming to mind.

It's never the *best* answer. It may in rare occasions be an acceptable option. But there are always still better options.

So say North Korea was to nuclear bomb us and declare war on us unexpectedly, we shouldn't defend ourselves and declare war on them? Should we try and be diplomatic while they are killing us?

kermie gaytopia
03/14/15 8:18 am

You can always find an extreme situation to illustrate an extreme point. North Korea will never nuke is so your question is irrelevant. And the poll is not, in my understanding, talking about that kind of violence.

ProFreedom Wisdom beyond my years
03/14/15 8:20 am

The question is very broad, but I see where you are coming from, if North Korea ever gains South Korea, we are their next target

Does anybody even remember WWII? Can we negotiate with the Hitlers and the ISIS and Boko Harams of the world. These are not extreme examples.

So the only alternative to violence is negotiation?

MachoMatt84 Climbing Mountains

My question is very broad and is meant to apply to all levels from self defense up to war.

ProFreedom Wisdom beyond my years
03/14/15 4:44 pm

What other logical and effective alternatives are there to violence other than negotiations?? Ignoring it, asking someone else to take care of it?

kermie gaytopia
03/14/15 5:03 pm

Sabotage, bribery, distraction, threats... I can think of any alternatives.

htcbump Florida
03/14/15 6:00 pm

The negotiating includes threats, bribery, although not sabotage. I still want to know what to do short of violence with ISIS, Hitler, etc.

htcbump Florida
03/14/15 6:02 pm

Sabotage, blockades, and even embargoes are often considered acts of war.

03/14/15 7:37 am

Disagree. Violence is the answer when one is defending oneself against violence.

kermie gaytopia
03/14/15 7:58 am

I've defended myself from violence almost daily for the past 12 years at my job and I've never had to be violent back.

MachoMatt84 Climbing Mountains
03/14/15 7:33 am

Strongly disagree. While I don't believe it should be the first option, it ultimately is the answer in many situations and instances.

03/14/15 9:03 am

Sometimes there's no other choice, especially when you are dealing with evil or irrational individuals.

MachoMatt84 Climbing Mountains
03/14/15 2:58 pm

And self defense is itself a form of violence too.
