Do you think it's silly when TV shows blur logos, especially when they decide to do so because they don't want to give a company free product placement, as if that matters. I think it's absurd.

They can get sued for using copyrighted images without consent.

You know what drives me insane? You're watching the news/sports or something and you hear : "and now for the Kay Jewelers weather report!" Grrr

I've heard that it is done so other sponsors will consider the channel. For example, coke might sponsor Comedy Central, so CC blurs out the Pepsi logo when they air Wayne's World 2.

$$$ and capitalism. They have to squeeze every dime to remain competitive. Can't give away free adds. I agree it's ridiculous, but it's going to happen within the system we've created, it is incentivized.

Did you know it is sometimes done intentionally to bring attention to the product? We all know what logo it is... Either blurring or slightly modifying the logo to draw your eye to it. Then , you think about what it could be, thus thinking of the

OJ Simpson trial, brought to you by Sony...

The only Sony monitors that have the letters painted on the raised Sony logo on the back of displays are those used during the Simpson trial. Product placement...
