Which software (besides Office) would you recommend to others in your profession or other students. (Teachers: I'm looking for a test generating software)
You didn't misread the question. It was a general question about what software people like for their profession/home use - there might be someone else who could use the tip.
As a student, I can tell you that Kahoot.it is a fun resource for test reviews and the like. The teacher starts up the review on the laptop/projector screen, and the students join with their cell phones. It's a lot of fun, and helps quite a bit too
Apps for Electro-Mechanical Techs.
Bitzer refrigerant PT charts. Copeland X Reference. Tecumseh X Reference. Electric Calculator. Resister color code. And if you need to calculate how much concrete you need Concrete Pro.
It's both a test creation suite, and a practice test platform. I used it to take practice tests of a lot of my certifications. I only dabbled in the test creation platform, though.
Yes, Python is a great programing software. I haven't ever tried OneNote - can't figure out if I'd use it, but I should try it. Endnote is great. Didn't recognize the others. Thanks!
Front Row (www.frontrowed.com) is a great resource for K-8 math. It's free for teachers and offers differentiation and reports for your students. It makes a great math center or activity for early finishers. I'm pretty much in love with it.
These are good to know. I was mostly interested in a test generator software, but figured that I'd open it up to anything. I love audacity. Didn't know about Rename master or Graph pad master.
I no longer have Photoshop, but pxlr.com is a great free photo editing tool that does most of what I need. Picasa also does a lot of what I need for simple edits.
Graph Paper Printer is one of those programs I use all the time. It's a little known thing written by a French guy, and it lets you print customized lined paper. You can use it for sheet music. You can use polar coordinates. You can make your own.
I love old programs. I used GeneRunner for analyzing DNA sequences. It was DOS based, but it was free and did the job about as well as programs that cost hundreds of dollars. Just didn't look pretty.
That's great firefly. One thing that I like about ZipGrade is that it saves a pic - useful if a student tries to change their answers after I give the exam back.
