America is doomed when the younger generations start to become involved in the political process.
Older generations always think younger generations are stupid and lazy. Always has been, always will be. They'll grow up and be fine just like we did, our parents did, and so on.
Why would we fear education and participation?
I really hope, as if looks, that younger people are leaning more libertarian than ever.
The young are Libertarian
The youth got Obama elected. What idiot will the next generation elect?
Well the geriatrics elected Bush, at least Obama was a slight step up
Judging by the approval ratings, the youth have learnt their lesson.
It's not about them (or us, as I am technically a millennial) getting involved in politics, it's about whether we learn to communicate our message to them in terms they understand.
Obama hasn't been a slight step up from any president since before the horseless carriage was invented.
The Bush administration did more damage to this country than any other administration in history. Obama may not be great, but Bush was the bottom of the barrel.
Like for example?
Got us involved in a BS war, led us into the great recession from which we are still recovering, avg household incomes shrank, middle class shrank, war on science, approved torture, Signed the Patriot act, escalated war on drugs
I support both of Bush's wars. We should be fighting radical Islam on all fronts.
"led us into the Great Recession"
That was a bipartisan recession. The subprime lending mandates were started under Carter. Bush only continued them.
"from which we are still recovering,"
The slow recovery is on Obama and the Democrats in Congress. Not Bush.
"avg household incomes shrank, middle class shrank,"
Congressional Democrats. Sure Bush should have vetoed, but still...
"war on science,"
No such thing.
Actually approved waterboarding and the like. Good. Did not harm the country.
"Signed the Patriot act,"
Obama expanded the PATRIOT Act.
"escalated war on drugs"
We need to escalate it. We won't win otherwise.
The Iraq war was not a war on Islam or terror
War on drugs is not a winnable war, it needs to end
War on science, blocking stem cell research funding, loosening environmental regulations
The Iraq war was not a war on Islam or terror.
Sure it was.
"War on drugs is not a winnable war, it needs to end"
Of course it is. It needs to end, but in victory.
The war on drugs has been going on 40+ years and there are still more drugs on the streets than ever before, drug violence isn't showing any signs of decreasing, it has been a complete disaster. How did the Iraq war have anything to do with fighting
"The war on drugs has been going on 40+ years and there are still more drugs on the streets than ever before, drug violence isn't showing any signs of decreasing, it has been a complete disaster."
Because we aren't treating it like a war.
"How did the Iraq war have anything to do with fighting terror?"
Remember all those car bombs and gunmen and Fallujah and everything? Terror. Saddam Hussein died in 2006.
So you suggest militarizing the police and storming our own cities like the Nazis?
"So you suggest militarizing the police and storming our own cities like the Nazis?"
No. Here's not where you want to fight a war. You always want to fight it there.
We should be hitting South American growing operations with defoliants, bombing cartels, and sinking smuggling vessels.
You really think that would be effective and worth the time, money and soldiers lives? How about we just decriminalize drugs.
I do think it would be worth it. Drug use harms people who don't choose to use drugs, so legalization is an affront to liberty.
No, that is how progress happens.
How? Wise people die and foolish new people show up and start making the mistakes the old learned not to make decades ago?
America has been doomed ever since the early 20th century and the expansion of big government.
The past few generations did a pretty good job of fucking things up already.
America is doomed when wisdom is not consulted.
Because we are becoming more liberal and progressive? I disagree.
Only if they are idiots.
I couldn't disagree more.
If that's the case, I will become your doom.
Well, but Obama isn't in the younger generation, yet look what he's done!
And all of the aged politicians "ruining America"
every generation is said to be stupid until they grow up. the country will be fine
And this is the generation with more information than any other generation in human history
More rubbish propaganda as well.
It's also the generation that won't seem to grow up...
The people at the top, who would be in charge of political processes, are as smart as they've always been, if not smarter
It's just easier for the dumb to be publicly dumber
Electing people who ought not be elected falls under the umbrella of public dumbness.
Because there are totally enough people in this generation to vote and sway any election they please, the previous generations obviously don't hold the majority
A demographic doesn't have to be a majority to sway elections.
Totally disagree. It's important to instill American values into children when they're young so they don't become rabid American hating Liberals.
Yeah. Just without the global warming, sex, homosexuality, everyone is equal, Marxism, founding fathers were nothing but racists, burn the American flag and God doesn't exist.
I almost forgot about being told to praise Marx and al gore and burn the American flag
Thanks for reminding me! It's obvious you know more than somebody who is at the peak of public education
Like the basketball player that heads the DoE? Arne Duncan? Real genius...
Doesn't change the fact that you're lying due to ignorance
Lying about what?
The teaching of a gods existence, preaching of Marx, burning the American flag, and I'm fairly sure what you have to say about sex and homosexuality would end up being wrong too, so just most of your argument
Oh, well, it's not an argument. It's a fact. The Government Education Centers have been teaching this agenda for about forty years or so. So what makes you a rabid anti American Liberal? Your parents?
I contribute my patriotism to my grandparents.
So they raised you to like this country no matter what, and you see this as a good thing?
No, I believe they were too smart to have done something like that
Were your parents hippies? What was their deal?
No, they were simply well educated
Yet they hated American patriots. Very educated, I'm sure... Marxist types?
"They didn't preach loving America no matter what"
"They must be America hating communists"
I also like how not indoctrinating me passes for propaganda in your world
Well I'm going to ignore your false world now and go onto Physics C, have fun
So by the time you got to a Government Education Center, you were already throughly brainwashed in anti American Liberalism. Makes sense.
Just wanted to find the source of your hatred. I got it now. Thanks.
You just called him a Marxist then talked about how you love your country no matter what. Let that sink in.
That's because I'm an American. Where did your hatred for America start?
I don't hate America. But you said you'd love your country no matter what. That's exactly what a communist would say. Zealous patriotism and love for the state is a communist attribute, not a classic liberal/libertarian one.
Where did your hatred for American patriotism start then?
I'm just trying to understand where the hate in you Leftists come from. I want to understand.
Stop saying people hate America because they disagree with you, are you 5?
I've never said that so go learn to read and then get back to me when you can comprehend reading.
I'm just trying to understand where the hate comes from. What's wrong with that?
"Where did your hatred for America come from?" Uhh yes you did cowboy
No I didn't.
Reading comprehension goes a long way. Whenever you leftists support Hamas against Israel, you say we must understand their hate. I'm just trying to understand your hate. I just had a civil conversation with the other kid. Why can't you?
I never said I support Hama's. How far do you have to reach up your ass to get this stuff?
So say it.
I hate to say it, but my generation is as stupid as it gets. We are so used to being handed everything over to us on a silver platter without any work. We are so used to being babied by the nanny state. I fear for the constitution and all of our
freedoms when we start to vote. We may as well put the final nails in the coffin that holds america inside it.
We're less babied and entitled than the baby-boomer generation by a milestone. If your username is an indicator of your age, (I'm '95 myself), give it a couple years and you'll start to meet way more millennials with their head on right.
