Will the US Constitution/Presidential system of government in the United States, collapse or otherwise be ended in the next 50 years?
Our constitution survived a Civil War, the Great Depression, 2 World Wars, but Citizens United will destroy it -- unfettered $ in politics will end our constitution.
Nothing will change the U.S. Government. It's here to stay.
The more the left gets their way economically, the faster it will happen. Compound interest is a killer!
50 years is maybe too short a time for that to happen but the reality is that everything in our world entropies. Eventually this country will decline and be fundamentally different than it is today.
I made a bet in 2008 with a friend, basically that the U.S. Gment would still be functional in 2018. The stake: a case or available equivalent of beer of the winner's choice. I said yes. Looks like I probably will win.
In his defense, my friend hopes that I win as economic collapse and revolution isn't fun for anyone.
Yep. It's time for a shake up. As Jefferson once quoted.
I put no because in the future republicans/conservatives will fix this country and her people.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA OH GOD. Dude, quit your day job and go on tour as a comedian because what you just said was the greatest joke I've ever heard in my life.
Well I got class comedian in high school so thanks buddy. Conservatives will fix this country, especially when you shrink the government down a few sizes and open up the free market more.
You spelled libertarians funny.
If you think republicans are interested in shrinking the government anymore I've it some bad news for you...
It already has. Thanks Liberals!
Not collapse, but vastly change.
While its sensical to expect the United States, like all great nations, to eventually collapse under its own weight, it is also impossible to predict that end. For the US to end, we will need a general decline in conditions, so that people look at
The past fondly, and that is unlikely to happen in our current system
WWIII will be in the next 15 years government will order a draft there will be mass riots (greater then Nam) martial law will be declared, police state will take over Texas will then break off from the union. There will be a civil war in unitedstates
Also not joking really believe this may happen based off of the high unresolved tension from WWI to present conflicts and he way the government is starting to do things.
So to sum up my answer we loose are rights when martial law is declared
Good one I hope you enjoyed your ego boost knowing that I made a few typos.
One can hope.
People are only upset because of Obama - once he's gone it's back to business as usual.
False so he can be replaced with another puppet to be controlled by its master?
So who is the puppet master? Is Obama the first puppet?
Your idiots lol do you think the president is not influenced at all like other government officials?
So are you calling me an idiot here?
No he wouldn't be the first president to be influenced by outsiders and lobbyists
I'd still like clarification about the idiot comment.
Yah and everyone has only good intensions and is only the better good of the people. Which government would you like me to choose where the the leadership has been corrupted? You are crazy to think it doesn't happen here.
@eagle what don't you understand?
Did you see the question I asked about the idiot comment?
Why? It's held up just fine for over 150 years. And if the descendants of the idiots that challenged it last time think they are going to have better luck bringing back slavery than their great-great grandparents had holding on to it, they won't.
Lol. I agree.
While I don't think it will, the "it's lasted x long argument" isn't valid IMO
It isn't the reason we won't try something else, but it is evidence we haven't had a good enough reason to in a very long time. To overcome that kind of inertia you would need some kind of compelling reason. What's so different? Why start over?
I'm not saying we SHOULD. I'm saying just because something has been the case doesn't mean it always will
I agree. I was just trying to point out that until something changes to make it worth even looking at, there isn't any motivation to consider reworking a system that has proved to be adequate. Nothing much has changed in those last 150 years.
This is the best system money can buy. Its going nowhere without the total collapse of the union.
Don't scare me like that Matthew.
I didn't mean to scare you. But how did I scare you?
Why would our government collapse? I feel like you know something I don't know...! :/
I don't think it will that soon, but I'm.seeing way too.many similarities between us and the end of the Roman republic.combined with what appears to be so collapse of the ability to have effective government for my liking
