Would you rather be a world-class guitar player or a world-class piano player?
There are numerous world class country guitarists. John 5 comes to mind, among others.
Guitar, since that's what I'm in school for.
What kind of guitar? I'm not a rock'n'roll type person but, yknow, if it were a guitar that could be played to, like, Brooks and Dunn or something, then sure. How come most of the people in Oklahoma picked piano? A piano isn't quite as good for playin a country song on :/
I play both. Piano is much harder to learn, therefore is sounds more elegant. But I love the simplicity of the guitar. Both instruments have a way of playing on my heart strings????
Have guitar, will travel...
False. Play me Chopin on the guitar.
Easy...it's way too hard to carry a piano down to the beach!
Personally, I'd rather 'lay' a pianist but that's just me.
That's why it's such a beautiful instrument to me.
If I had any rythm at all I'd choose guitar. No rythm at all.
The map has changed a lot and not the way I predicted. I'm blessed that I get to heart my very talented husband play all the time. He plays both.
Piano is just so elegant
Guitar because I already play it. I'm okay at it, but not world-class.
Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Barry Manilow, Ray Charles, Little Richard, must I go on?
Isn't understanding of piano the basis of all music? Master that one and can easily grasp another.
I'm not offended, I was only observing from your statement.
Okay, I also heard of Elton John. Now name me ten more pianists in modern day who can get chicks with their piano skills. Cause there's so many guitar players, including just the regular joe playing his acoustic at a party, using guitar for poon.
I love the Magic Piano app on my iPad. ...way too many hours invested in it, though....
I said in my opinion. I didnt mean to make it sound braggish. Sorry if i offeded you.
You must be so humble........
Guys who are great at piano are so hot
What about Derek Menzerik ( bot sure if spelled correctly) from the doors?
I totally botched the end of that post. Most of what I like to play is all that, and in wacky time signatures requiring said shred skillz. ;)
Well not world class. But, very talented in my opinion
Already am in piano
I guess you've never heard of Billy Joel.
Guitar will get you laid. Piano will get you . . .?? I'd go with guitar.
I'm already good enough at piano and songwriting. Just give me a good singing voice pleaseeeee.
Quick! Turnaround and go back!! It's all downhill from here!!!!!
Welcome to true adulthood!
As of tomorrow, I'll be in the middle category! This is probably the last post I'll make as an under 21 year old! Wahoo!
Are you Jason Newsted?
I'm already a world class bass player; at least in my own mind. I have and still do gig a lot, but if I could have my way I'd quit my day job and become a rock star. My wife doesn't support this idea.
I play both already, though bass is my main instrument. Rather have the shred skillz than the piano chops, as most of the music I like is guitar-based and over 140BPM. :D
keyboards! Like Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman or Geoffrey Downes.
I love playing guitar. and I had piano lessons a long time ago. The guitar is way easier to bring to the beach.
I've tried learning the guitar but my fingers are too short, the piano seems easier to me my sister in law taught me a few songs in a day.
A world-class guitar is far more portable than a world-class piano...
I would love to play the piano, but unfortunately I just don't have the patience or the ear. Classical, jazz or rock I like them all.
Elton John, Tori Amos, Victoria Legrand (Beach House).
I LOVE my metal and I LOVE playing my guitars!!! Any string instrument really. I also play the cello in my school's orchestra and that is equally fun! My girlfriend is amazing at the piano, however, but I don't have a clue with it. Just whole and half steps between certain notes. Basic stuff.
"You may drive around your town
In a brand new shiny car;
Your face in the wind and your haircut's in,
and your friends think you're bizarre.
You may find a cushy job and I hope
that you'll go far,
but if you really wanna taste some cool success,
You better learn to play guitar!"
I like the sound of the piano but the hotness of guitar player :-)
I can't play either of them. Would love to learn both but being as I grew up with GNR, Metallica and the likes, I would like to rock out with my 'guitar' out.
Guitar seems so much cooler. Plus you can't lug around a piano.
It does not say rock guitar, it could mean classical, country, etc.....
