Due to the endangerment of the bald eagle, a bald eagle egg is more valuable than a human fetus and, therefore, is more worthy of federal protection.

US law recognizes the value of a child in utero, if they are injured or killed during a crime. The law defines "child in utero" as a member of the species Homosapiens, at any stage of development. Unborn children are only protected as crime victims.

I agree that this is a true statement. It is the law. I don't agree that it should be true. It's ridiculous.

Eh, Humans are assholes, when was the last time an eagle sought you out just to crap on you ?
There's a lot of people and not a lot of them. We need to focus on the ones that need help surviving.

The end has got to be near. I can't even stand to read the comments. What a sick world we live in where a baby is thought of less than an animal.

Only a liberal would value an animal's life over a human's life. Proof that liberalism is a mental disorder.

If humans were close to extinction, I would disagree but they aren't. A human fetus is not a person.

The question makes the issue seem simplistic but it's not.

Totally agree, blossoming. It's problematic how many people want to simplify it.

How is it more complex?

kermie gaytopia
11/15/14 4:52 pm

Well almost every issue of significance is more complex than 300 characters, but especially abortion, no? Those who want to reduce it to something that fits on a bumper sticker are those who don't want to discuss it.

We are not discussing abortion. We are comparing the value of a fetus vs an egg. I don't see how it can be complicated to explain why the egg is more valuable.

If you don't see the complexity, that's your loss. What a unlovely way to be in the world.

I'm not sure the bald eagle is all that endangered anymore, we sure have a lot of them around here. But still, probably so. There is no shortage of humans.

No Kermie, because they devalue human life and place the life of a bird or turtle above a human being.

Where are the "its only a clump of cells" comments? Aren't eagles also only a clump of cells? Don't you liberals have any consistent views?

Pretty sure that in a real world scenario, near enough to all would save the crying baby before the falling egg.
