Do you have a negative perception of bike riders who ride on a two lane road?
It's not that I mind going around them. They're dangerous on a lot of roads
No. That describes most of the roads around here. I'm more annoyed by people in cars that don't know how to drive.
No, I don't get mad at bikers, I feel sorry for them. If there is no bike lane and that's the route they need take to get home then they have no choice and it's dangerous.
Yes, unless there's some race going on, or they're riding for a cause. Other than that, they're just kind of annoying
The ones out here are jerks, riding the line at 80mph when traffic is at a stand-still, weaving in and out of traffic, popping wheelies and such.
I had one grab onto the bed of my truck while I was stopped at a red light on Monday. He flipped me off when I rolled down the window and politely asked him to take his hands off my truck. Yeah, they're a bit annoying.
Only those that decide they can ride two, three or even four wide and refuse to get out of the way of traffic. I've seen some who ride in packs and block most of the road. If you honk they laugh and just give you the finger.
Yea they're fucking annoying
Only ones who ignore traffic laws.
Only if it's a high traffic road and there's a sidewalk or safer alternative available.
Lately I've seen a lot of bikers on busy streets where there is a sidewalk available. They're obstructing traffic and causing accidents.
You're technically not allowed to ride your bike on the sidewalk.
Maybe not where you live, but here the police recommend not riding in the street if possible unless there are designated bike paths
If it is a tight fit I don't get mad but I do watch the news to see if they died.
Many riders are not smart when it comes to choosing a route.
I love seeing people out biking or running.
I guess a little. Why not just drive? What are you? 10?
To save the ozone, of course!
A car costs hundreds to thousands a year in insurance, maintenance, and gas. A bike costs very little, is more maneuverable, and is generally more fun than sitting in a box, slowly falling asleep while traveling fifty to a hundred feet per second.
You don't own a car?
I could ride a bike to work and school. Lol...I would never be anywhere on time.
And you don't have snow...
I sold my car 3 years ago for scrap as it was dying and I'm not really interested in getting another. Having no car saves me almost $2000/year. When I need a truck or car, about 20 times a year, I borrow one or rent one for a few hours for $20-30.
Bundle up butter cup. Winter is coming.
I rather like biking in the snow; I'm often the only one out there doing it because everybody else is too scared (other than delivery guys).
No, as long as they stay on the shoulder of the road.
If there's no sidewalk, then what other option do they have?
In rural areas like where I live, we see bikers as a potential accident waiting to happen. There are 55 MPH curvy roads where you will find bikers on. You have to be extra careful.
In Portland, there are bike lanes everywhere and bicyclists are usually no trouble to share the road with.
In Portland yes.....but there are a lot of older roads in the burbs with no bike lanes or shoulder and it's almost nonexistent outside the UGB. Riding is my preferred mode of transportation but it can get scary.
I know drivers give you guys a hard time when there aren't bike lanes. I feel for you.
>99% of drivers are courteous and safe. It's the random insecure mouth breather who likes to bully cyclists who scare me.....and teenage girls with their phone in their hand. My heads always on a swivel. There were 4 cycling fatalities in OR in
August. Each one was ran over from behind by a careless driver.
Ugggg...one of my boys is out there on his bike training to join a professional racing team. He's been hit once already. I am not a fan of him being on the roads, but he's an adult, so it's not my choice!
I don't know them personally to decide what view I have of them, but I do know how to drive so I don't injury them it's not a big deal to drive around them.
Unless they aren't using the bike lane, no. They aren't using gas and are exercising, I have a positive view of them.
On the roads I travel, there are no bike lane. So, it is annoying to have to avoid bikers.
There are a lot of riders here but overwhelmingly they are careful. It could be because they are mindful of the kids. Now NYC is another story. Run for your life.
I hate it when bike riders ride on a road where the speed limit is 55 MPH, and the roads are curvy.
Oh that would make me nervous too. You mean regular bikes correct? We tend to get regular bikes in neighborhood area 30 mph. On the main road we get the motor bikes and its 55mph there
I mean a regular bike not a motorcycle. :)
Amish people around here walk, bike, and drive their buggies wherever they want on the road. They're a menace.
I hear they cook good though.
Yeah, but I don't think that's a fair trade
It's dangerous for the biker and motorists.
I don't think they all do it by choice.
