For those who said they opposed the last poll, do you believe taxpayer dollars should be given to assist poor mothers who have a mentally or physically challenged child as a result of drinking or smoking during pregnancy.

Yes, especially for Medicaid to help the child recover from their disability and school aid/services to help them develop and learn.

not to the mother, but the child should be cared for.

Yes, the child should not suffer further because of questionable choices.

Only if there is a way to ensure that the money is being spent directly on the child. It's not the child's fault that the mother was irresponsible during pregnancy. However, if the mother is going to spend the money on herself, absolutely not.

How about the comment just above this? Make sure it really goes to the child and does not benefit the mother?

There is no way to ensure that. Look at our current welfare system, it's a mess.
I'm not saying don't try to help a child in need but tax money isn't the way.

Lol Alice! Like child support does? I'm glad that I can support my daughter's mother's drug habit. USA!

I'm sure both of you are right. But, I meant the question hypothetically. IF it could be implemented that way, would you approve?

No. The Government is obviously incapable of making sure that money is distributed wisely.

"IF" then sure. But it isn't going to happen so here we are in this world.

*the real world." Liberals always believe that the Government knows better than you.
