Have you ever been injured at work?
Oh yeah. lol.
I had a staple go thru the tip of my finger
No, thankfully. I was robbed at gunpoint once on the job and attacked by a guy wielding a pair of scissors another time, but escaped unharmed in each incident.
Yes, but nothing more than cuts or bruises.
I had a bronze monumental sculpture fall on me and fractured one of my ribs.
We had some squall move in like that (I just snapped my fingers). I ran to tie down boats and collect electrical equipment. As I was running, I stepped on a crater thing. Messed up my ankle for about a month. Never found out what happened.
A few times when I used to umpire and work at McDonalds.
Nothing serious though...and everything that happened at McDonalds was my fault anyway.
Nothing requiring escalation to OSHA.
Several times but never really badly. The worst was an autoclave burn; totally my own fault, I reached to shut off an alarm just as I was opening the door, & I burned the crap out of my dominant hand. Pressurized steam burns are nasty. Once I fell
on an asphalt path just outside work, cut up my knee, & had to have a tetanus shot because of the dirt in the wound. Once I was bitten by a mouse &, again, had to have a tetanus shot. I named the mouse Mr Nasty after that.
Sorry to hear it Emily. :-(
Not really injured, but my feet and ankles hurt like hell after standing all day
Nope. Safety first. Most workplace accidents are due to negligence.
I had hot fry grease splashed on my face when I worked at Wendy's as a teenager.
I pulled my back.
Yes, but nothing big enough to need to go to the emergency room. Minor cuts, scrapes, bruises, and burns, a loud tone through the headset that caused temporary hearing loss, and an electrical shock that was pretty scary. Normal stuff.
Several times. We work with very tiny and sharp instruments. Not uncommon to have small cuts. But nothing too serious. Yet...
I cut my thumb pretty good when I worked at a restaurant.
Ran over my left ankle with a pallet jack carrying two pallets full of watermelons.
I jabbed a box cutter about a half inch into my thunb. Hope you're okay!
I cut my self a couple of times when I worked as a grocery stocker. Both times required stitches.
I had to push in all these outside sale roll tainers and u-boats.. And one night they put too much soda on one and I was pushing it up a slight hill and hurt my back. I didn't report it or anything and the pain went after a few days though.
I'm glad you were ok
Yeah me too. Otherwise that would have sucked not having reported it.
A large filling cabinet fell on me at work today.
Are you ok and did you report it?
Yep. I'm at the doctor they told me to go to to get checked out. My wrist is killing me.
Oh Emily, I hope it's okay. Keep us posted, please.
Well I hope you heal up quickly, that sucks. But I'm glad you reported it.
I hope your wrist turns out to just hurt for a little while (that's bad enough), and isn't actually damaged. Having a file cabinet fall on you seems like it could be a really bad thing.
Its not broken, though I didn't think it was. They are treating it like a fracture and I have to wear a splint for a week.
Not broken is great news! Wait, a splint? It's not your wine hand is it?
Nope. I'm still good to drink wine :)
Have a good Merlot tonight - oh why wait have it now.
Oh gosh! So glad you're ok!
