Have you ever adopted an animal?
6 in my home at this point. All rescues.
Hank and Tanner - both basset hounds
Jesse - chow, golden, spaniel mix
Archie - foxhound, beagle mix
Piper - dachshund, basset mix
Parker - beagle
every animal I've ever lived with has been adopted or rescued, except the fish.
With 4 million dogs being killed every year , just because they are homeless, yes I adopt and actively rescue, foster and adopt out dogs to approved forever homes!
Every pet I have ever had (except fish and hamsters) came from a shelter or was a stray I took in.
I adopted the cat I currently have now, and also a guinea pig before. Both wonderful animals.
Yes, two cats both rescues.
My current furry retard is adopted from the SPCA. It was horrible seeing all of the pitbulls/purse dogs people throw away, so of course I got the one that looked like a German Shepherd.
Yes, all four of our cats are 'rescue' pets. 2 Siamese and 2 Bengals.
Not exactly. I've had cats, although not since 1989, but none of them have come from pet stores or breeders, just from friends or acquaintances whose cats have had litters. If I get another cat, though, it would be a rescued one for sure.
Twice now. Two lovely doggers. I will never go to a pet shop again for a dog.
My dog Brownie is adopted. You can kind of tell. She's a little temperamental and snappy. Shes a good loyal dog though. Loves cuddles and playtime
My dog Chloe. My mom's dog. I also fostered two mutts out of a rescue foundation that had so many health issues that they would have never been adopted had someone not given them serious tlc.
My baby is from Petco. My previous one's mother was a stray who had kittens.
I adopted a cat and rescued a dog and two cats
In my home right now:
Stanley, a 7 yr old adopted basset hound.
Steve, a 12 yr old adopted barn cat &
Phil, a 6 month old adopted blue point Siamese.
You rock!! :D
No, but both animals I have were rescued from being completely abandoned.
I have taken the responsibility of caring for my pet. I have never adopted an animal.
Yes, four times.
Adopted or rescued every pet I ever had.
Is rescuing and adopting not the same thing? I've always used the two pretty interchangeably...
I currently have two pets. One I adopted after having fostered it from 3 weeks old through the Humane Society. The other I rescued off the street when she showed up on my porch starved and likely abused.
Yeah, rescue is if you take in a stray or an abused/neglected animal and adopted is if you get them from a shelter
A 20 pound Siamese from a shelter in LA. Crazy ass cat
That's not your current cat, right?
Oh heck no.
Buddha would've eaten my current cat
I thought so... Your grey cat seems pretty awesome from the pics I've seen!
He's a transsexual you know

Thx rota for trolling but no
Rota you need a new alt I can't take you seriously.
I've adopted or been given all of my pets.
Including Tiera, right? :)
Yep. She was a wild kitten living in our garage who we accidentally trapped. We also trapped her sister. We kept them both because their mother died.
...then you became her pet and the rest is history! :)
LOK. Yes it is.
Rescued one cat and three dogs. They are the best!
Yes!! It's the only way I'll find furry friends.
Is the cat in your pic adopted too? I had a cat for 15 years who looked just like that... Best cat ever!
Yes she is!!! Got her Oct of 1999 from a local humane society. She's special needs (IBD, OCD, separation anxiety, food allergies, vaccine allergies, plus other sensitivities). Teacup black panthers rock!! She's still going strong :)
She looks great for 15! My cat, Bagheera, looked great too and was in perfect health, it's like they don't age. She was attacked by a coyote and didn't make it... That was a terrible day. :(
I'm sure it was a horrid day!!
Are you going to adopt another? After my girl goes, I promised myself to adopt two so they can keep each other company. One will have to be all black!!
Some day, yes... And I definitely want another all black!
Well you will know when the time is right and the right one will claim you as theirs!! :) don't fight it, just go with it. You cannot win against the squee of doe eyed purring cuteness!
Too much effort for me unless you count fish
Yep, we've adopted all of our pets.
That's awesome! Do you currently have any pets?
No, we're renting our house and pets aren't allowed. I guess you could say we're in between dogs. We'd like to get a beagle mix next time, but we're not all that picky.
Yes. I tend to foster critters more than I adopt. I take them in when they're not being taken care of and find a permanent home for them.
I adopted my SO's cat when we got married.
I haven't because my busy life wouldn't be fair to a pet unless it was a fish! In this area though, it's practically taboo to actually buy an animal from a pet store or breeder...most people adopt their pets. :)
We've got 5 gold fish too :)
Several growing up. Most recently, my cat. :)
His name is Hossa, right?
Quite a few of them.
My family did today actually
We adopted a 4 year old dog yesterday... He is pretty awesome! Already potty trained, great disposition, good with kids and he sleeps the night. Most of my job is already done :)
So cute! (The kids are adorable too!)
Jake - what a sweetheart. Looks like he's going to be loved to death. Your little one on the right her expression is precious. Boy looks like you b❤️
@CC- he immediately fit right in and everyone loves him. Good stuff! :)
All you have to do is get a basket and bring him on rides with you. ! Congrats!
What happened to his previous family?
His owner, a friend of a friend, had a stroke and is in the hospital on life support. They don't believe she is going to make it, which is quite sad. He needed a home and was a perfect fit. He acts like he has been with us his entire life!
Oh how very sad for your friend but he Dexter could not have would up in a better home.
Rescued many cats in the past.
No, but I've bought plenty of them.
"Adopting" an animal is a linguistic ploy to imbue animals with human-like value.
...or it's just giving a home to an animal who does not have one. :)
Ok. That's allowed. ;-)
