Do you think virtue is necessary for happiness or rather sufficient for happiness?
Wouldn't that depend on the virtue?
I believe in something Confucius said a long time ago to his followers, which is " goody-goodies are the thieves of virtue "
I would say that the idea of virtue ethics, it's not just good enough to do good. We must seek goodness and be good people for it to matter. I think it's necessary as empty acts don't being true happiness where virtuous acts bring truth and goodness.
Hmmm. Neither. You can have virtue but still be unhappy, or be a lazy slob but a happy camper.
I agree. happiness and virtue need not overlap.
Yaaaas, you guys understand me.
A little bit of Aristotle and Diogenes for you today... Hmm.
