If 50% of all cops in the US were laid off, do you think our country would be a better place to live? (Assume that the process is random in deciding who is laid off)

Let's just agree on the fact that absolutely nothing would go well if half of the police force was laid off...

if our country naturally had 50% fewer cops, yes. But we have about 800,000 police in the USA, so if 50% were all suddenly laid off all at once, that would hit the economy kind of hard, and crime rises noticeably when the economy dips. 400,000 newly
