Inspired by Trepidhickory: midterms may be over, but 2016 is still fast approaching. We can expect to see party favorites announce their candidacy in the upcoming months. Who are your top three potential presidential candidates?
Idk, there is more than enough guessing in the Media.
Dr Ben Carson.
not a Libertarian
not a woman
I understand your preference against libertarians, but why no women? Do you just not like any of the current prospective female candidates?
It's Biblical, Skinner, and difficult to do justice to in a short explanation. For a thorough explanation in a concise little book, grab a copy of "Leadership is Male" by David Pawson on amazon.com . But to state it briefly, it goes back to Genesis 3
when Eve, then Adam, sin ed. God cursed the serpent. Then He put a curse on Adam and his descendants (men) and on Eve and her descendants (women). Among the elements of Adam's curse were that he would have to work hard to grow food and that the
ground would begin to yield thorns and thistles, etc. The curse to Eve, though, is more interesting. Not only would He "greatly multiply her pain in childbirth," but "her desire would be (toward or of) the man." This is apparently (and I don't speak
Hebrew) referring to women wanting to be like men in terms of authority; wanting the man's "headship," or leadership, authority. I do not offer this as anything near an adequate explanation, but as a foundation. In the New Testament, we are told
that the head of a woman is the man, and the head of man is Christ, demonstrating God's proper order of authority. Paul makes it clear that a woman is not allowed to preach (be a pastor) or to usurp authority over men. There are multiple verses
throughout the Bible that demonstrate this principle: that (1) children may learn leadership by playing at leading each other; (2) women may lead and teach children and other women; and (3) men may lead and teach children, women, and other men. This
principle was known to our Founders, who had no women in the Constitutional Convention, and used male pronouns in referring to the presidency because they never intended for a woman to be in that office. Feminists will argue that "our culture has
changed, so we must read female pronouns into the Constitution," but the question immediately arises, "should our culture have changed in that respect? Was there no wisdom in the Scriptural principles God gave us, that is timeless and unchanging?" It
is up to each of us to decide whether to stand with God's wisdom or man's wisdom. I simply stand with God's Word. ✞
While God does indicate the male is to be the figurehead of marriage He never explicitly proscribes women from power. Quite the contrary He seems to encourage the action by creating the incentive in the first place. Besides, God was describing the
consequences of the fall and how women and men will relate to one another. That is a consequence of sin not a divine intention. Do you work in the field making your own food? Did your wife not have her child bearing pain ameliorated by modern
technology? God was describing the way things would be, not the ideal.
LOL - sadly, Judy was unable to have an epidural when we had our son. The doc had to talk us through basic Lamaze breathing!
I see your points, but, again, I'm not able to explain this as well as the book.
- Mike Huckabee
- Marco Rubio
- Condoleezza Rice
Is Rice actually considering running?
It's be great if she did!
I honestly can't think of anyone I'd happily support
Philip Roth for the lulz
His running mate can be Jimmy Carter
The Fuck It Party: Roth-Carter 2016
Seriously? Do Presidential campaigns *really* have to start the day after mid-terms???
I won't consider anyone who is not/has not been a Governor.
Yes, they have to start right now.
MD LT GOV Boyd Rutherford!
I will be supporting Clinton, only because she had the best chance of winning nationally. She is not my preferred candidate, though. A left-leaving moderate is blunt preference. I would love an actual progressive, but I will not get caught up in
...purity campaigns like the GOP has done.
But damn, President Sanders or President Warren sounds great.
Seeing all of the candidates offered up by conservatives make me so very, very happy.
If anyone tells you that liberals or progressives are scared of Carson or Paul or Walker, believe them. I'm terrified. Please oh please don't make Carson
...your candidate. Whatever would we do?
Yeah swillory, or warren the fake Indian? Is that the best ya got?
There's nothing wrong with Indian women. Indian women can remember things from years and years ago. That's why they got that red dot, they recording everything you say.
Put down the crack pipe, granny warren ran as an an American Indian. Even though her great grand pappy killed them on the trail of tears.
Really? Racist much? Coming from a "protected gender?" Wow.
Protected Gender? What are you on about?
Also I made the stereotype joke because I was pandering to conservatives. There's many Desi women without the bindi.
Really your rainbow contingent isn't protected? Racist.
You've went off the deep end.
No, I'd be there with you. Ain't gonna happen.
I don't think we've ever talked without you pulling a "no u"
Rota, don't feed the trolls. Lip wanders from liberal to liberal making outrageous statements, trying to hook someone. He's not even an interesting troll.
Cite you are the best of the pond scum, the most fun.
Yet again, troll is the new nazi. When a libiot loses an argument and lies panting, soiling themselves they cry troll!
Umm... Have you seen me called a troll? If you've been on an SoH poll, the answer is yes. The people crying about my behavior aren't libs.
Anywho Cite, I know. I really set him and swervin off one time and ignited them making polls on my evilness.
Your on crack rot. What poll would that be? To euthanize or not?
You know how im usually being nice to you? I don't mean this as an insult, but it's not your insults, it's that all of your insults are very dated. To your credit, they'd have been good back in the 2000s though, not just "the average".
If you want some tips on how to step on toes, feel free to ask.
Ah you struggle to be relevant. Keep trying.
Naw rot, no one wants the jv team.
Rand Paul, Ron Paul (if he decides to run which probably won't happen), Marco Rubio.
My favorites: Kasich, Martinez or Christie.
My predictions of top three: Paul, Walker, Christie.
What are your thoughts on Bush?
I don't think he'll run when he has to decide.
No, I'm convinced he wants to run. Jeb's been dropping some serious trial balloons. He's said he's "thinking about it". George W Bush has said "I think he wants to be president," and George P Bush has stated "I think it's more than likely that he's
giving this a serious thought in moving forward". I would be shocked if he didn't run.
That said let's say for the sake of argument that he does run in 2016. What would you think?
I think his last name will be trouble for him, but if he could get past that, he'd be our best bet with Latino voters.
Romney, Rubio and Perry.
You have no idea how much I want these to be the top GOP contenders.
You and me both
Something would actually get done if one of these three would win
They'll never win. They are fantastic candidates for the GOP to run, if you're a Democrat like me.
Seriously. Go out and get these people to run. Donate. Hell, I might donate to them. They are the best chance of a Democratic victory,
...regardless of who we run.
George: he doesn't say that because he thinks they would be good candidates. Cite believes these people would fair poorly in a general election and that's his only motivation for wishing they would win the primaries.
Yup. It would be an electoral bloodbath.
The only Republicans that worry me are ones that would be unlikely to get through the primaries, especially if Clinton runs.
And who do you think that would include?
Condoleezza Rice and Jon Huntsman.
They would be great candidates. Unfortunately neither seems interested in seeking the nomination in 2016. Even if they did, Huntsman can't expand his primary support past moderates. Rice may stand a chance, but her pro choice record would hurt her.
Huntsman is a has been
Exactly, George. Stick to your candidates. Huntsman is awful and can never succeed.
That Ben Carson guy, though Get him at the top of the ticket! He will do perfect against Clinton.
I didn't like Huntsman to start with.
I think Ben Carson would have a landslide victory over Clinton though.
I agree. Donate your money. Volunteer. Get Carson onto the ticket for the landslide victory. I heartily approve your resolve.
Interesting list. I like Ryan, but seriously when's the last time a representative jumped strait to the presidency? I'll tell you when, 1881. Ryan needs to become a Senator before I will consider him.
He may have a smaller constituency, but he has the profile to do it.
He does have a very strong profile, which could do him good. I also admire his ideas, but I'm just not sure I'm comfortable with the idea of it. Although I would strongly support him should he get the nomination.
He has strong ideas, and I think that's evident to most people. This is the perfect counter to Hillary
They are strong ideas, but they are also ideas that can be exploited by Democrats to make him appear radical.
Top three to win it would have to be...
Rick perry, rand Paul, ........
Not jeb bush or Christie
Governor Jeb Bush
Senator Rand Paul
Governor Mike Pence
Pence is a good guy. Met him a couple weeks ago. He sounded like he will run.
Yeah I think he will make a good dark horse. I'm sorry to hear about Brown. I thought he would make a comeback late last night.
I'm hoping a candidate will emerge that I feel positive about voting for, instead of trying to choose between the lesser of two evils.
this... but I'm not optimistic. :-/
Sounds like we're all in the same boat. I'd love to see Condi Rice on the ballot. Sadly, she's too smart and honest for that position.
*snicker* honesty? yeah, that would be the equivalent of a vaccination for most of the politicians there unfortunately. would also be a nice change.
I predict Rand Paul to get the nominee.
And then promptly lose in November.
Let's see Ted Cruz's birth certificate.
Actually, I think Rand would have a decent shot ... definitely a better shot than Walker and Cruz.
I agree with Tom. Paul may identify on the far right end of the party, but he has done a very good job expanding the party tent by reaching out to African Americans, young people, and moderates.
Good luck getting the black vote, but he gets an E for effort.
You mean an A for effort?
^ Never going to get it with an attitude like that! Democrats were winning like 0% of the Black vote in the early 1900s and won like 80% by the 1930s. Republicans were winning like 10% of Southern Whites in the '40s and won like 70% by 1972. Got...
... to keep trying!
My hope is governors will run. I'd really like to see Mark Warner (now senator, was governor) run against Hillary for the democratic nomination. I'd also like to see Scott Walker run for the GOP nomination.
