Big Moral Corporation Appreciation poll. Name successful businesses worth at least 200 million dollars that hasn't used substitutes (Taco Bell "Beef") or used immoral practices (Chinese Sweatshops) to be successful.
I'm very fond of Starbucks in this regard, although I admit one could probably dig deep enough into the past of ANY person or company, successful or unsuccessful, and find SOME sort of dirt.
Make a Living....Living!
Rush Limbaugh owns a business that is worth more than 200 million.
Very interesting Poll roto....
Chick Fil A chicken is made out of gay people.
If that were true, it would mean Gay Ppl gives me the shits.
I dunno. It depends on how broadly we're defining things. For any successful company, you could find something that they do that arguably meets one of these. For instance, one of the first companies I thought of was Ben & Jerry's, but they use corn
syrup and some other chemically created products in their ice cream. Is that a "substitute"? I don't know.
In my personal opinion anything chemically created to substitute natural products is pretty unknown to modern effects. That may be paranoia but I'm sure most people wouldn't consider corn syrup bad. There's commercials for and against it.
I think the point is whether they label ingredients truthfully or not, not what they are.
Sodium hydrochloric-Burger yummy lol
Ben and Jerry's. Trader Joe's.
How about the Carnegies? Andrew and Dale?
A lot of vicious magnates like Andrew Carnegie, known for having workers beaten & shot, later tried to redeem their reputations by giving part of their fortunes to charity. That's what's remembered: their generosity with $ gained through brutality
I had heard conflicting information :) hence the question mark. Guess I need to do some research :)
Jim Beam...has to be worth $200m and my Bourbon has no substitutes.
And if wanting you to get piss ass drunk is wrong...I dont wanna be right.
Well unfortunately, Jim Beam was bought out by a company which is a subsidiary of a Japanese Company.
But I wish it wasn't, it's pretty good.
Now the Japs have gone too far!! I was willing to let them slide for WWII & Godzilla, but I'll be God Damned if I'm gonna let them steal 3/4th of Kentucky's economy.
Lmao! I like you!
Roy Rogers, Hobby Hut, Planned Parenthood.
Roy Rogers isn't worth 200 million dollars.
They've been around since 1968 and have only 20 stores?
"HAHA! they must actually use real beef!" - Every other fast food chain who is making billions today and founded long afterwards.
Hobby Hut is so small they don't have a wiki page and when I googled them it literally gave me some locations instead of any corporate page.
They must actually be moral, and that is why they're not big business. Sadly.
How about Dale Evans?
Planned Parenthood made me laugh out loud. You win with that one. I didn't even look up how much it makes, but that one was awesome.
Dale Evans isn't a business to my or Google, bing, and duckduckgo's knowledge.
You have to be old like me to remember Roy, Dale, Bullet, Trigger, NellyBell. Just thought it would be fun.
Oh good gracious no. Their "Kirkland Signature" brand is like any other brand "equate", "great value", etc. They have it cheaper for a reason. ;) it's practically like "You're already buying screwed up substitutes, let us make it cheaper for you".
Anyone as good as their CEO is hiding a dark secret....you wait, your gonna find out Bob Costco is secretly harvesting organs from children to be sold on the Black Market.
But I'd say Costco is better than most screwed up places, so that was a really good suggestion.
Shit, ok you win. Haha. However I meant businesses that aren't practically legal hit men :P
Also it's no longer black water. After killing those civilians in Iraq, they became Xe Services and then Academei according to their wiki.
They have to keep changing their name to outrun bad press lol.
And before some dud gives me shit, my answer was obviously Facetious.
I figured so lol.
Of course you did lol...but theres always one.

They were civilians, Nemacyst. There's people in America I don't like, but we don't fire on unarmed civilians.
As a police officer, you shou- oh no....
Ironically I dated a Wolfpack guy.
uhh.... umm... give me a sec and I'm sure I'll come up with something! ....any minute now.... I got nothing
This poll was inspired by my other poll about the word "trick" to become a rich man in America. I want to know the men who haven't "tricked" people for profit and their names because I'd love to give these men some free advertisement albeit small.
But yes I tried to think of some myself and did not come up with any either :P
ahh, Yea I remember reading that thread. I definitely agree with you. anyone who seriously thinks a single one of these mega corporations live up to some bullshit mom and pop store sterling standard is deluded
The sad thing is 200 "million" is small for a "big business". The S&P 500's smallest company is worth at least a billion dollars. There's thousands of corporations worth more than 200 million dollars. I personally think they're all crooked sadly. :(
Yea 200 million is a drop in the bucket nowadays. It really is sad the extent at which big business rips off consumers. The worst part is that a lot of it is completely legal thanks to the deregulation that's been going on since the 80s.
Entertainment Industries/Software companies don't really count.
Why don't software companies count?
Entertainment and software companies have their fair share of unethical business practices anyway. Lot of labor issues and often anti-competitive stuff too.
I didn't know enough about them and honestly I thought I'd be the lone person defending things on this poll. Sorry that was my fault.
