What do you collect when you travel?
Flags with signatures/notes from the people I spend time with
Keychains, mugs, and hoodies.
Magnets, snow globes, and clothes
I take some photos.
Receipts so I can double check why I spent during that time.
It was cookbooks probably now if I travel it will be yarn.
Silver rings and a pebble/rock.
I do not live all that far from agate Beach.
I've always wanted to see agate beach and also glass beach.
Come up this way will meet somewhere and make an afternoon of it.
By the way there is a quilt shop down that way. In Bandon there's a fabulous Irish pub. And a bookstore some markdown over published books. Amongst them quilting and knitting
TQ, I would love to take you up on that offer. Maybe someday. Southwest Oregon looks like a really beautiful place to visit.
I'm in North Bend on the southern Oregon coast. We can always message each other and exchange info. Doesn't that sound like fun though
A nice rock, sometimes. I used to buy a shot glass every time I went to a new place, to give to a friend who collects them (& who used to pick me up at the airport when I returned from trips, so I'd just hand it to her in the car), but then I moved.
Sand and sea shells. I live by the beach and what I collect goes along with the sea shells I've collected over the years. Each jar has a nice label stating where it came from and the date.
I do the same thing!
Hats for awhile but I haven't done much of that in recent trips.
License plates and local currency.
Whatever links to a memory from the trip.
Magnets and coffee mugs. Sometimes a shirt too
Magnets. I have close to 300 to the point that 100% of the front of my fridge is covered.
You should take a picture of it and post it here!
I will do so after school today. :)
Dollars. Oh, wait, that's disperse, not collect...
Cool! What are your prize samples so far? I love the hobby but unfortunately I've collected very little of it myself. Most of what I have has come from traveling friends and coworkers.
My two favorites are from Scotland, where my husband proposed and from Bora Bora where we honeymooned.
Aww! How sweet! I don't have any that are so special to me personally. I do have sand from some amazing places though. The ones I'm most amazed by are from 2 spots on the Amazon, Normandy Beach, and all around the coast of India.
Yours is still a nice collection! I would love to get some from Normandy, such an important place in history.
Yeah...that one is pretty amazing. I just wish that I was collecting more of them myself!
Another sand collector here. It's all from places I've been. My strangest is from "Gilligan's Island". Beaches near me are described as sugary white powder.
Nice! How long have you been collecting?
I'll guess about 25 years. I love to go look at the sand and remember where I've been.
Wow! Do you ever have others get it for you on their travels? I don't get to travel to sandy places that often, so most of my samples have been oven to me by others.
What I have is all from me, with one exception. My in-laws brought me sand from Cancun. Ok, because I went there and missed getting it myself.
Haha...plan B. :)
Oh, and I'm a nature, wildlife, and travel photographer, so typically hundreds of if not thousands of photos per vacation.
Shot glasses or me as well.
I take lots of pictures and if I find a nativity set that I like, I'll bring it home.
