The GOP held the House, the Senate, and the Executive from 2000-2006 and Bush didn't veto a single thing during that time. If there was any reason to think voting for Republican candidates would make this country "better," it would've been done.

LOL I often have to laugh at your questions. I will disagree because the Dems can do even further damage if they have all power. Split power (one party has Congress, the other the president) will stop some of the most crazy stuff.

Also I really dislike Harry Reid so any chance to take power from him is good.

The Senate handles removing impeached people from office, Reb.

Repubs and dems are two heads from the same hydra. They both do mostly the same thing.

I doubt that. Ron Paul supporters aren't bright enough to produce such prose.

Jk. :-)

And if there is a better example than those years of how voting for a Republican candidates makes the country worse, I don't know what it would be (although Kansas and Texas deserve honorable mention).

Maybe not, but you can contrast the Clinton years to the GW years, or look at what used to be the great state of Kansas then and now, and ask yourself why? They may be no different, but their effect on regular people seems to be.

so whats the alternative? seems like no matter what both parties ruin this country

It starts with us. The parties have stacked the deck by rigging the districts, bringing "home" federal money for popular local projects, and with the kind of advertising only unlimited corporate sponsorship can buy, but they still need votes.

They've done a good job of manipulating us for generations, but we aren't limited to the media they control anymore. I think the InterWeb is key, and is why so many party hacks have been fighting against keeping the Internet free and open.

WE elect them, and WE can choose not to elect them. No third party like "Ls and Gs, no "changed" party like the TPs, just honest, independent candidates who represent we the people, not corporations, unions, religious nuts, or any other agenda.

That's a fairytale Zod. it sounds great. I want that. but it will take generations to get there.

With the InterWeb, and especially the younger generations being comfortable using it, the only piece that isn't in place yet is teaching them to be critical thinkers. It could happen sooner than we think, or maybe they just won't get it. I have hope.

rons Thanks America

Can't get any worse. But we have to get rid of Harry!

How many things did Obama veto from 2008-2010?
This line of thinking can go both ways. Plus, it asks it as if no new problems ever come up.

More to my point, the two parties are the same shit and Americans need to stop thinking this will ever work.

It doesn't matter if you vote for a 3rd part until we change our electoral system

But so many libertarians are idiots and have wet dreams about the Constitution and won't have it changed even though it's holding them back from being relevant

Where in the constitution does it have anything about a 2 party system?

If enough vote libertarian, at least one party will move towards freedom to try and obtain those votes.

There is a law in political science that says it is impossible for a single district plurality based congress can support more than 2 major parties

our Constitution gives us a single district plurality based congress

then change the system. european countries have TONS of political parties its not hard. americans are just too dumb to figure it out.

Agreed, Dems and Reps don't want it to change, and libertarians worship the Constitution.

so yeah bsrely anyone is willing to actually change it
