Which do you see as the bigger issue with incest: the higher possibility of genetic defects through inbreeding, or moral problems?
Medical problems. I don't know that there would be a moral issue with it at all.
Yeah lets just throw moralsout the window to watch the world burn
I didn't say throw them out. I said I don't know of any that apply. Didn't they marry like that in the Bible?
Relationship disruption would be the major issue for me.
Ugh, I can't decide. It's equal
She just lays there just like her momma!
I don't care what they do down south.
morality is subjective so if people want to do it then whatever, but I find it gross.
I honestly don't have an issue with it.
I just think it's weird but I mean I guess if both parties are ok with it then whatever let um do it
The probability of genetic defect increases only slightly. Besides, this argument has been debunked tons of times. The main reason people are against it is because it's "icky".
The ancient Egyptians didn't think so, marriages between siblings were common.
The main reason people in America*
Specific prohibitions in Exodus, somewhere in chapters 20-23, I'm pretty sure. If anybody wants to see it, I'll look it up. Just reply to me on this thread.
It looks like in Genesis 20, the story of Abimelech, he was rebuked not for marrying his (half)sister but because she was another man's wife. But you're the Bible expert, so please research it, it saves me time, and my tablet charge is low ;)
Exodus 20-23. Next book. After the Ten Commandments, other civil laws are listed. :o)
I'll get the chap & vss.
Sorry! Leviticus 20:11-22. It's all mixed in there.
I see. Leviticus 20:17 does it.
I may post one or two interesting challenges about Leviticus tomorrow ;)
Looking forward to them!
I think the incest taboo, while based on moral issues, is actually because of inbreeding and is one of the few taboos that actually make sense. You prevent possibly harmful inbreeding with the emotional block of a moral taboo.
Not to mention, my sister isn't THAT cute!
