There are people planning on doing some horrible stuff tonight. Tainted candy, vandalism, even some ritualistic crap. For those going out please be smart. If something looks sketchy (a person, a treat, a house, a party drink) stay away.

Should I be concerned with a person with a real chainsaw trick and treating?

Don't act stupid, don't let younger children go out alone- just have basic common sense precautions and you'll be fine.

Good point, Rob. There really are plenty of wackadoodles out there.

While I agree that you should still be safe, there have been never been any reported deaths from poisoned candy in the US.

There actually was about 40 years ago. It turned out though that the father had poisoned his son's Halloween candy with cyanide. It caused all sorts of panic.

I've heard about that, but I meant through random houses.

Yeah, that's fairly innocuous. I still check the candy when we're done trick or treating though. :)

This is another reason why I am skipping all Halloween related activities and having a date night with my husband instead. :)

Good point. We had a very off-center neighbor boy. They wouldn't adopt that the black cat on Halloween and the cat disappeared. They asked me if I saw the cat and I said no. Which was truthful but even if I had I would not of said anything.

I am quite certain they had very unsavory plans for that cat.

Great advice! I hope everyone with animals makes sure they are inside or somewhere safe tonight. Sadly my town has had problems with people torturing and killing pets on halloween.

Anyone who purposely hurts an animal is a sick F in my opinion.

Its absolutely horrific the stories they have on he news the next day. Cats hung in trees, shit with arrows, ect. A lot of this happens in the stockton sacramento area. I wish there was something more law enforcement could do to prevent it

96% of the population pays others to hurt an animal. Does that count?

Rob Be Safe Be Smart
10/31/14 9:45 pm

No, it doesn't. Hurting an animal for enjoyment is completely different.

Hunting an animal for food is different. Hunting an animal for enjoyment I'm less inclined to view so generously. Killing isn't "sport."

Are you giving this as a normal Halloween warning or is there something extra that has happened that I don't know about?

Statistically speaking there is definitely something planned that no one really knows about. I don't have any special knowledge of anything though.

Well I feel like your warning is valid but something about the way you worded it made me feel like there was something I was missing, like a group of people were going to try to turn this into purge night.

Personally, I'm more worried about further rioting from Giants fans. For some stupid reason the city is throwing them a parade today, even after they vandalized muni busses and police cars. Fucking sportsball...

True, but I think tonight is overly creeptastic with those wackos knowing that the kiddies are out there and will be looking for vulnerability.
