A judge lifted the quarantine of nurse Hickox. But in his ruling he stated, "Respondent's actions...as a healthcare professional, need to demonstrate her understanding of human nature and the fear that exists. She should guide herself accordingly."

Wise judge to stop the conflict and pray that nothing comes of it.
Just need to be sure this gets on her resume, I would not hire a person with her level of careing and professionalism.

If she comes down with Ebola all hell will break loose.

"The court is fully aware of the misconceptions, misinformation, bad science, and bad information being spread from shore to shore in our country with respect to Ebola," ...

... "The court is fully aware that people are acting out of fear and that this fear is not entirely rational."

Very wise judge. He is clearly not a politician or "journalist".

You are correct Zod, but as a member of a small New England community she now has to wear a scarlet letter!

That will pass, especially since she took care not to put anyone at risk. Underneath the fear, in that part of the country they still value the kind of common sense, fierce independence, and grace under pressure she showed us all.

You are so correct. I have stood on the bridge at Fort Kent to watch springs first ice break. The people there are resilient sturdy stock.

I said foolish, because he should have locked her up for the balance of her 21 days, then jailed her cor criminal negligence for another six weeks. She's a Hillary clone.

We have this little inconvenient thing in the United States, called the Constitution. What law did she break to justify this hypothetical jail sentence?

Tom, you're better than this. I'm surprised at you.

Alice, I'm surprised that you defend this self-centered loudmouth who refuses to submit quietly to a reasonable and fully justified quarantine. Her claustrophobia doesn't trump others' safety from a killer disease, and her bullish behavior won't do

anything to change people's minds in her favor. If you're designated at risk, you submit to the quarantine quietly.

All I know is if she breaks with Ebola, a class action lawsuit vs her estate should be awaiting for all citizens.

The thing is she was declared "at risk" by the Governor of New York. It was not a medical evaluation. Rather, it was a politically motivated decision. I would personally feel comfortable being with her, as long as she is showing no symptoms.

See the judge's comment, quoted above by Zod. That's how I feel about this.

Zod's quote is balanced by the quote in the poll. That although the public's fear may not be "entirely rational", she, as a health care professional, has an obligation to act responsibly and be considerate of the public's concerns.

Dazey, you are right. But, again, that's why I voted "wise judge."

Yeah let's wait till there is an outbreak, brilliant.

Nema, that's the point. Medical people are very much at risk. They may be exposed to the bodily fluids of advanced, symptomatic Ebola patients. Nobody got Ebola from riding the same airplane or shopping in the same bridal shop as the Texas nurse.

Even the family members of Thomas Duncan didn't get sick! Probably, that's because his case wasn't yet very advanced, while they were caring for him at home. Ebola patients become more contagious, as they get sicker. The most dangerous ...

... time for caretakers is when they are dying.

That's why the general public is at zero risk from this woman, as long as she shows no symptoms.
