Do people ever give you compliments that are not about your physical appearance that make you uncomfortable?
I don't take compliments well. I have a fairly powerful negative self image propaganda factory in my head.
I don't think a sincere compliment would ever make me feel uncomfortable. I might feel a little unworthy, but not uncomfortable.
Not uncomfortable but humble.
I have been told I have a graceful quality. This is appearance based, but it's really funny because I'm so clumsy. It's not really a compliment I can own.
Perhaps you are clumsy with flair :)
Compliments are usually doled out to people as sparingly as though they were a rare gem, whereas criticisms and unwanted advice fall like rain. I think it was Mark Twain who said that he could live for a whole month on one good compliment...
As long as the compliment is sincere and isn't delivered in a creepy fashion, it's nice to have someone see the good beyond just the physical appearance.
This was my week.
Why would any compliment be bothersome in any way, especially one not based on physical appearance?
I don't like compliments of any kind.
That was a fantastic comment you made!
You handsome devil :)
Sure. The right (wrong) kind of person can make just about anything sound skin-crawlingly inappropriate.
You look nicer when you're awake.
I get compliments on my job performance a lot. I feel like I'm just doing my job, and though it's nice that people appreciate me, it makes me a little uncomfortable. I'm bad at accepting compliments though.
When people tell me I have a sexy voice. It's not that uncomfortable initially when I get them it's the comments that come after that...
Now I'm wishing SOH had audio. Wait is that creepy? D'oh! :)
Not at all. I prefer to not reveal what I look or sound like on here so take my word for it. :)
I'll take your word for it and agree that it's a good idea to not reveal too much on here. Besides privacy concerns, not revealing all adds a touch of mystique.
