In Missouri at the high school level, there is a mercy rule for baseball but no mercy rule for any other sport. Does this make any sense at all?
In football, when a team is up by 35, the clock runs continuously
Yes. Because other sports have a clock. In baseball it can go on forever. The mercy rule puts an end to what can go on for a very long time
Instead of mercy rules, why not let the losing team forfeit when the point spread becomes so wide that they feel it can't be overcome?
Score all you can,if you're team is bad, maybe the losing team will get motivated to play better.
I know we have a mercy rule for soccer here, not sure about other sports.
I believe in football and basketball if the score difference is too great they let the clock run continuously.
